This study examines the planning and production strategies of the short film Inside and Outside, focusing on bricolage-based project management in a resource-constrained production environment. As a low-budget independent short film, the project was produced under limitations in budget, personnel, equipment, and locations, making it a useful case for exploring alternative production approaches.
The film portrays the guilt and mourning experienced by a person left behind after the suicide of a loved one. Rather than focusing on the event of death itself, the narrative explores memory, absence, and emotional recovery through narration and the use of confined spaces such as an empty house and an automobile.
This study applies the concept of bricolage to analyze how available resources were reorganized and utilized throughout the production process. The findings indicate that bricolage functioned not merely as a response to resource shortages, but as a practical project management strategy that supported both production efficiency and artistic expression. The study further demonstrates that limited production conditions can encourage creative decision-making and innovative resource utilization.
In addition, this research examines promotional, marketing, and distribution strategies suitable for independent films. Audience engagement through guest visits (GV), collaboration with mental health organizations, digital content marketing, film festival submissions, and platform-based distribution are discussed as possible methods for expanding audience reach and social impact.
The study concludes that strategic planning and creative resource management can provide practical solutions for independent filmmakers working under constrained production conditions. By presenting the production process of Inside and Outside as a case study, this research contributes to a broader understanding of independent film production and offers practical implications for future filmmakers and producers.
