Purpose: This study was conducted to evaluate effects of the integrated sleep improvement program for hemodialysis patients based on the theory of unpleasant symptoms. Methods: The research design was a nonequivalent control group quasi-experimental design with a pre-test, post-test 1, and post-test 2. The study participants were 39 hemodialysis patients at the hemodialysis center of one hospital in D City(20 in the experimental group and 19 in the control group). Data were collected from December 24, 2025, to February 23, 2026, and were analyzed using the SPSS WIN 26.0 program with chi-square test, independent t-test, and repeated measures of ANOVA. Results: The experimental group showed significant improvements in physical activity, depression, sleep duration and sleep quality, and functional health compared with the control group. Conclusion: An integrated sleep improvement program based on the theory of unpleasant symptoms effectively increased sleep duration and improved sleep quality among patients undergoing hemodialysis. Therefore, the program may be used as an effective nursing intervention to improve sleep-related problems in hemodialysis patients.
