수묵 콜라주와 크리처를 통한 유동하는 정체성의 표현 = Expression of Fluid Identity through Ink Collage and Creatures

국문 초록 (Abstract)

본 논문은 2017년부터 2025년까지의 본인 회화 작업을 중심으로, 표현 방식과 조형 구조의 변화 과정을 분석한다. 특히 2023년 이후 전개된 수묵 콜라주 회화를 중심으로, 시각 언어를 통해 드러나는 유동적 정체성과 그 형식화 과정을 고찰한다. 창작 과정에서 드러나는 사고의 흐름과 내적 동기를 정리함으로써, 개인의 시각적 실천을 시간적·문화적 맥락 속에서 재조명하고자 한다.

본 논문은 정체성을 고정된 실체가 아닌 사회적 관계와 환경 속에서 끊임없이 변화하는 개념으로 바라본다. 나의 작업은 이러한 변화하는 정체성을 시각적으로 기록하는 시도이며, 작품에 등장하는 크리처는 내면과 외부 세계가 결합되어 형성된 자아를 은유적으로 드러내는 존재로 기능한다.

이론적으로는 이야기와 정체성의 관계, 전통 서사의 구조, 유동적 정체성과 문화 혼종성 개념을 바탕으로 작업의 개념적 배경을 정리한다. 이를 토대로 자전적 서사가 회화 속에서 스토리텔링의 방식으로 전개되는 과정과, 크리처가 화소로 작용하며 변주되는 양상을 분석한다. 특히 수묵 콜라주 회화를 중심으로 전통 도상, 혼종적 크리처, 판타지적 세계관으로 확장되는 화면 구성을 살펴본다.

또한 수묵 콜라주 기법과 재료의 조형적 특성을 분석하여, 직관적 구성 과정과 무의식의 흐름이 화면에 반영되는 방식을 고찰한다. 이를 통해 본 연구는 회화가 유동적 정체성과 문화적 혼종성을 시각적으로 구축하는 방식을 정리하고, 향후 작업의 확장 가능성을 제시하고자 한다.

다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

This study analyses the development of expressive forms and compositional structures in the author’s painting practice from 2017 to 2025. Focusing in particular on ink collage paintings developed since 2023, it examines the process through which fluid identity is revealed and formalised through visual language. By organising internal motivations and thought processes emerging from the creative process, this study reconsiders individual visual practice within temporal and cultural contexts. Its primary aim is to explore how painting constructs and expands complex perceptions of identity.

This research understands identity not as a fixed entity, but as a concept that continuously changes through interaction with social environments. The author’s work seeks to visually document this shifting identity. The creatures appearing in the paintings function as metaphorical figures that reveal a reconstructed self formed at the intersection of inner experience and the external world, representing layered identities that transform in response to social and emotional conditions.

The study establishes its theoretical framework through discussions on narrative and identity, traditional storytelling structures, fluid identity, and cultural hybridity. Based on this framework, it analyses how autobiographical narratives unfold through storytelling in painting, and how creatures operate as visual units that transform and recur across works. Particular attention is given to ink collage paintings, examining the progression from works based on traditional iconography to hybrid creatures and expanded fantasy worlds.

Furthermore, the study investigates the formative characteristics of ink collage techniques and materials. The intuitive process of ink collage reflects unconscious states, while creatures rendered with dry materials function as visual elements that explore continuously shifting identity. Through this analysis, the study clarifies how painting visually constructs fluid identity and cultural hybridity, and suggests possibilities for the further development of the author’s practice.
