무대 비유를 통한 양가적 감정과 회피에 관한 작업 연구 = A Study on Ambivalent Emotions and Avoidance Through the Metaphor of the Stage

국문 초록 (Abstract)

본 논문은 개인이 사회와 관계 맺는 과정에서 경험하는 양가적 감정과 책임의 유보 및 회피를 나의 작업을 통해 살펴본다. 나는 사회와의 관계 속에서 발생하는 불안, 의존과 같은 부정적 감정으로부터 거리를 두려는 태도를 명확히 규정하기보다, 그들이 형성되고 유지되는 방식을 따라가고자 한다.
이를 위해 나의 작업들이 세워지는 상징적인 장소로서 ‘무대’를 설정하고, 그 위에 올라가는 작품을 배우, 배경, 장치라는 비유적 범주로 나누어 분석한다. 이 무대는 개인의 내면과 사회 구조, 관객의 인식이 교차하는 장소로 작동하며, 그 안에서 감정과 태도는 고정된 의미로 제시되기보다 유보되고 분산된 상태로 놓인다.
나는 이러한 무대적 비유를 통해 사회적 규범이 개인에게 작동하는 방식과 개인이 머뭇거리며 위치를 조정하는 과정을 조형적으로 제시한다. 여기서 작품은 완결된 결과물이라기보다 관객과 환경의 개입 속에서 의미가 형성되고 미뤄지는 상태로 존재한다.
본 연구는 나의 작업을 명확한 메시지를 전달하는 매체로 규정하기보다, 개인과 사회, 관객 사이에서 책임과 해석이 끊임없이 이동하는 관계적 장치로 다루고자 한다. 이를 통해 내가 살아가며 감당하는 불편한 상태 자체를 사유의 대상으로 제안한다.

다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

This thesis explores the ambivalent emotions, the deferral of responsibility, and avoidance that an individual encounters in the process of engaging with society, through the lens of my own artistic practice. Rather than clearly defining the anxiety and dependence that arise in relation to society or the tendency to distance oneself from such negative emotions, I seek to trace the ways in which these states are formed and sustained.
To this end, I establish the “stage” as a symbolic place where my works are situated, and analyzed its components through the metaphorical categories of the actor, the background, and the apparatus. This stage functions as a site where the individual’s inner state, social structures, and the audience’s perception intersect, within which emotions and attitudes are not presented as fixed meanings but remain deferred and dispersed.
Through such theatrical metaphor, I sculpturally present the way social norms operate on individuals and the process by which individuals hesitate and adjust their positions. Here, the artwork exists not as a finalized outcome but as a state in which meaning is formed and continually deferred through the intervention of the audience and the surrounding environment.
This study aims to treat my work not as a definite medium of delivering clear message, but as relational device where responsibility and interpretation continuously moves between the individual, society, and the audience. Through this, it proposes the uncomfortable state itself that I endure in life as an object of thought.
