국내 산업별 민간자본투자의 에너지소비에 대한 패널 분석 = An Industry-Level Panel Study of Purpose-Specific Capital Investment and Energy Consumption in Korea

국문 초록 (Abstract)

본 연구는 2002년부터 2023년까지의 기간을 대상으로 광·공업 26개 산업에서 민간 자본투자의 동기별 구조가 에너지소비에 미치는 영향을 패널데이터로 구축하여 정태·동태적으로 분석하였다. 신제품개발, 설비확장, 유지보수, 자동화, 에너지·환경, 연구개발, 기타 등 7개 투자유형을 투자의 목적과 기능에 따라 명확히 구분하고, 이를 산업 간 비교가 가능한 공통 분류체계로 재구성하였다. 이를 통해 대부분의 기존 연구에서 단일한 ‘설비투자’ 또는 ‘총투자’로 포괄되던 자본투자를 동기별·기능별로 세분화하여, 각 투자유형이 에너지소비에 미치는 차별적 영향을 체계적으로 분석하였다.

This study analyzes the effects of motive-based private capital investment structures on energy consumption across 26 mining and manufacturing industries over the period from 2002 to 2023, using a panel dataset and applying both static and dynamic empirical approaches. Capital investment is explicitly classified into seven categories—new product development, capacity expansion, maintenance, automation, energy and environmental investment, research and development, and others—according to their objectives and functional characteristics. These categories are reconstructed within a unified classification framework to ensure cross-industry comparability. By disaggregating capital investment by motive and function, this study moves beyond the conventional treatment of investment as a single aggregate measure, such as “equipment investment” or “total investment,” and systematically examines the heterogeneous effects of different investment types on energy consumption.
