As the streaming market saturates, platforms face a critical bottleneck: converting casual viewers into committed subscribers. While platforms rely on narrative suspense to hook audiences, they simultaneously impose release schedules that may elicit psychological resistance. Adopting the Stimulus-Organism-Response (S-O-R) framework, this research investigates the dual-pathway mechanism through which Ending Type (Cliffhanger vs. Resolution) and Release Pace (Weekly vs. Binge) influence Subscription Intention. Results from a scenario-based experiment (N=219) analyzed via path analysis reveal a highly specialized psychological process: cliffhanger endings drive subscription intention by heightening state epistemic curiosity, whereas weekly release schedules suppress it by inducing frustration. Crucially, the findings demonstrate a "path-specific" effect where narrative elements exclusively trigger cognitive curiosity, while structural delivery elements exclusively trigger affective frustration. This suggests that the revenue benefit of suspense is contingent upon the alignment of content and structure. To maximize conversion, high-tension narratives require immediate accessibility to prevent curiosity from being offset by delay-induced frustration. This study challenges uniform release strategies and emphasizes the strategic necessity of aligning narrative endings with platform delivery schedules.
