또한 이번 연구에서는 PSALSAR(Protocol, Search, Appraisal, Synthesis, Analysis and Report) 프레임워크를 적용하여 검토 절차의 구조적 투명성과 재현 가능성을 확보하였다.

The primary objective of this study is to identify effective strategies and best practices for minimizing carbon footprints (CF) across all stages of renewable energy supply chains (RESCs), with particular em-phasis on the often-overlooked Scope 3 emissions that constitute the largest share of embedded envi-ronmental impacts. To achieve this goal, a Systematic Literature Review (SLR) was conducted to ana-lyze scholarly and industrial research on carbon footprint assessment, management and mitigation within RESCs. Comprehensive searches across Scopus, Google Scholar and Semantic Scholar yielded 759 ini-tial records, which were screened using predefined inclusion and exclusion criteria. Following rigorous quality appraisal, 70 peer-reviewed articles published between 2009 and 2024 were selected for in-depth review.
Using the PSALSAR framework (Protocol, Search, Appraisal, Synthesis, Analysis, and Report), the study ensured a structured, transparent, and replicable review process. The synthesis reveals key themat-ic clusters shaping decarbonization within renewable energy supply chains, including life cycle assess-ment (LCA) methodologies, predictive analytics, digital monitoring technologies (AI, IoT, blockchain), integrated forward-reverse supply chain models, regional energy clustering, circular economy practices, and carbon governance mechanisms. Findings show that while renewable energy systems have low op-erational emissions, their supply chains remain carbon-intensive due to resource extraction, globalized manufacturing, logistics activities, and end-of-life challenges. These impacts are further exacerbated by methodological inconsistencies, limited data transparency, and geographic research imbalances, particu-larly in developing regions.
This study contributes to the advancement of Sustainable Supply Chain Management (SSCM) by consol-idating fragmented knowledge, exposing persistent gaps in carbon footprint standardization and data harmonization, and highlighting the importance of digital, circular, and policy-aligned interventions for system-wide decarbonization. The insights generated provide valuable guidance for policymakers, indus-try practitioners, and researchers aiming to strengthen carbon-neutral renewable energy systems and ac-celerate progress toward a sustainable global energy transition.
