Satellite imagery enables large-scale and consistent observation, making it suitable for lane-level map construction. However, most existing satellite-based methods rely on pixel-wise segmentation or single centerline extraction, which limits their ability to represent lanes as structural entities. In particular, lane continuity, directionality, and inter-lane relationships are not adequately captured by segmentation-based approaches.
This work formulates satellite-based lane detection as a structural prediction problem and proposes a polyline-based lane representation. An encoder-centric architecture is adopted with an output design that encodes lane center and directional information, followed by a post-processing step that generates polyline lane instances reflecting global lane geometry.
Qualitative results show that the proposed method successfully recovers lane continuity and directionality in simple road scenarios, while revealing limitations in low-contrast regions where redundant polylines may be generated for a single lane. These findings highlight both the feasibility of polyline-based lane prediction from satellite imagery and the need for topology-aware constraints in future work.
