A Study on the Status of the Preservation and Management of records for the Establishment of Education Myung Eun Park Department of Archives Management Joongbu University Supervised by Professor Man Young Yoon, Ph, D. The purpose of this study is to theoretically and systematically analyze the necessity of establishing a permanent record management institution at the level of the Office of Education, and to suggest the reasonable establishment and operation direction of the Office of Education's permanent record management institution through actual establishment and operation cases. To this end, this study examined the concept and function of a permanent record management institution and related legal and institutional grounds through literature research, and analyzed the characteristics of the Office of Education's record management environment using statistical data from the National Archives. In addition, a case study was conducted with the Seoul Metropolitan Office of Education, the Jeollanam-do Office of Education, the Gyeongsangnam-do Office of Education, and the Chungcheongnam-do Office of Education to compare and analyze the background, organizational composition, facility/space, operation method, and status of the record information service of the permanent record management institution. As a result of the study, it was found that the establishment of a permanent record management institution of the Office of Education was highly necessary in terms of systematic transfer of records, professional preservation management, and expansion of record information services. In the case of the case of the Office of Education, the preservation and utilization of educational history data and policy records were strengthened through a permanent record management institution, and a positive effect was confirmed in securing transparency and historicity of educational administration. However, the method of establishment and operation were different depending on the administrative size and financial conditions of the Office of Education, and the step-by-step establishment and function expansion method were analyzed as a realistic alternative. This study has academic significance in that it has extended the discussion of permanent record management institutions to the administrative area of the Office of Education, and has policy and practical significance in that it presents empirical data that can be used to establish records management policies of the Office of Education through actual case analysis. Through this, it is expected to contribute to the development of the education office record management system and long-term preservation and utilization of educational administration records in the future.
