This study aims to analyze differences in eyelash extension design preferences according to age among adult women and to identify overall trends in post-treatment satisfaction, thereby providing foundational data for proposing customized eyelash extension designs that reflect age-specific characteristics. As interest in appearance management has expanded across all age groups in recent years, eyelash extension procedures have become a routine beauty practice. Accordingly, there is a growing need for a systematic analysis of age-related aesthetic demands and satisfaction factors among consumers.
To achieve this purpose, a survey was conducted targeting adult women in their 20s, 30s, 40s, and 50s and older. Data were collected focusing on perceptions of eyelash extension procedures, information acquisition channels, treatment experience and usage behaviors, design preference characteristics, and post-treatment satisfaction. The collected data were analyzed using the SPSS 23.0 statistical program. Frequency analysis was performed to identify general characteristics, and cross-tabulation analysis and chi-square tests were conducted to examine differences according to age groups.
The results revealed statistically significant differences in eyelash extension design preferences across age groups. Women in their 20s showed a strong preference for- 50 trendy and accentuated designs, whereas those in their 30s and 40s tended to favor designs that enhance eye shape and improve overall facial image. In contrast, women aged 50 and older demonstrated a relatively higher preference for designs emphasizing naturalness and stability. These findings indicate that aesthetic standards and design selection factors vary depending on age.
In terms of post-treatment satisfaction, no statistically significant differences were observed among age groups, and overall satisfaction levels were high across all age categories. Partial age-related differences were found only in satisfaction with changes in appearance, while most satisfaction factors—including overall treatment satisfaction, design satisfaction, cost satisfaction, and intention to continue using the same design—showed no significant differences by age. These results suggest that satisfaction with eyelash extension procedures may be influenced more by the quality of treatment outcomes and individual expectations than by age.
This study holds academic significance in that it empirically identifies age-related differences in eyelash extension design preferences among adult women while also confirming the general characteristics of post-treatment satisfaction. Furthermore, the findings are expected to serve as foundational data for establishing systematic design consultations and developing customized service strategies that consider age-related characteristics in practical eyelash extension settings.
