This study aimed to evaluate the skin improvement effects and the prevention of ingrown hairs caused by skin irritation after waxing, through a spray containing salicylic acid, Lactobacillus fermentation extract, and Centella asiatica extract. The study participants were adults with experience in waxing procedures, divided into an experimental group and a control group, and observed over four weeks.Skin assessments were conducted weekly from the 0-week immediately after waxing to the 4th week, measuring skin moisture levels, elasticity, sebum production, pore size, skin sensitivity, and the number of ingrown hairs. Changes were analyzed using paired sample t-tests based on a study design that involved repeated measures by the same experimenter each week. The results showed that the skin moisture levels in the experimental group increased significantly from the baseline during weeks 1 to 3 compared to the control group, which exhibited a notably larger increase. Sebum production decreased in the experimental group after the 2nd week, while the control group maintained relatively high levels up to the 4th week. Pore size temporarily increased in both groups; however, the experimental group demonstrated a lesser extent of increase compared to the control group. Skin sensitivity was high immediately after waxing at week 0, but the experimental group showed a lower increase in sensitivity from weeks 3 to 4 than the control group, suggesting an effect of sensitivity regulation. The number of ingrown hairs continued to decrease in the experimental group up to the 4th week, while the control group showed a limited reduction. In summary, this study experimentally validated the effectiveness of a spray aimed at preventing ingrown hairs after waxing through objective indicators such as skin moisture, sebum levels, pore size, sensitivity, and the number of ingrown hairs. This presents scientific evidence for post-waxing care and is expected to contribute to the standardization and enhancement of professionalism in the waxing industry. However, further verification with longer-term observations and consideration of skin types is deemed necessary.
