With the rapid advancement of short video platforms, tourism short videos have progressively emerged as a pivotal medium for users to obtain travel information and develop behavioral intentions. Nevertheless, current research exploring the psychological and behavioral response mechanisms elicited by users' interaction with such content is still somewhat scarce. Building upon the Stimulus–Organism–Response (SOR) theoretical framework, this study examines the mechanisms by which tourism short videos affect users' information satisfaction and behavioral intention.
This study constructs a research model that includes four stimulus variables—perceived ease of use, perceived usefulness, perceived interactivity, and perceived entertainment; two organism variables—user emotion and user cognition; and two response variables—information satisfaction and behavioral intention. A total of 425 valid samples were gathered via an online questionnaire survey. The study utilizes Partial Least Squares Structural Equation Modeling (PLS-SEM) to examine the proposed hypotheses and performs multi-group analysis to explore variations in path relationships among different user groups. Furthermore, fuzzy set Qualitative Comparative Analysis (fsQCA) is adopted to detect various combinations of conditions that contribute to high behavioral intention.
The PLS-SEM analysis revealed that the paths from perceived ease of use to user emotion and from perceived interactivity to user cognition were not statistically significant. User emotion and cognition demonstrated significant mediating effects in multiple relationships, especially when acting as chain mediators through information satisfaction. Furthermore, the multi-group analysis indicated that gender and travel frequency moderated several indirect paths, influencing the strength and direction of these relationships.
Additionally, the fsQCA analysis uncovered two primary configurations leading to high behavioral intention: one characterized by the simultaneous presence of perceived usefulness and user cognition, and the other by the combination of perceived ease of use and user emotion. Five additional configurations were identified as associated with low behavioral intention, predominantly marked by the absence of perceived usefulness and perceived ease of use. These findings suggest that users' behavioral responses to tourism short videos are shaped not only by individual factors but also by complex interactions among multiple conditions.
To verify the robustness and external validity of the research findings, this dissertation includes a section titled "Comparative Discussion with Methodologically Similar Studies." By selecting three representative studies that exhibit high similarity in research context, theoretical framework, and analytical approach, the study systematically compares differences in PLS-SEM path coefficients, multi-group moderation effects, and fsQCA configurations, thereby offering additional empirical validation and theoretical reinforcement of the current results.

This research not only verifies and extends the applicability of the SOR theory within the context of tourism short videos but also offers robust theoretical underpinnings and actionable practical insights for digital content design, the refinement of tourism marketing strategies, and the enhancement of user experience on digital platforms.
