Currently, aromatic polyimide (PI) is in increasing demand in various industries such as semiconductor devices and automobiles due to its high tensile strength and excellent thermal stability. However, aromatic PI suffers from low tensile strain. In order to increase this low tensile strain, high flexible polydimethylsiloxane (PDMS) was added to the main chain of the polymer. While PDMS improves flexibility, it also reduces tensile strength due to weakened intermolecular interactions. To address this issue, a crosslinking strategy was adopted in this study. Various polyimide films were prepared by adjusting the molar equivalence of the crosslinking agent. The structure of the synthesized PI was identified through H-NMR, and the crosslinking PDMS-PI film produced was identified through FT-IR to determine the structure and the presence or absence of crosslinking. In addition, thermal properties of the polyimide and cross-linked polyimide were analyzed through DSC and TGA, and mechanical properties were analyzed using UTM.
