조형 요소를 활용한 아트메이크업 디자인 연구

국문 초록 (Abstract)

현대 글로벌 문화산업에서는 예술, 패션, 미용이 긴밀하게 결합하며 분 야 간 협업이 활발해지고 있다. 특히 현대미술은 순수예술의 범주를 넘어 상업적·대중적 영역과 결합하고 있으며, 무라카미 다카시는 ‘슈퍼플랫’ 개념을 통해 고급예술과 대중문화의 경계를 허물며 이러한 변화의 흐름을 대표하는 작가이다. 이처럼 예술의 조형 요소가 다양한 분야로 확장되는 가운데, 아트메이크업 분야에서도 현대미술의 조형 언어를 적극적으로 차 용한 표현 방식이 점차 확대되고 있다.
본 연구는 작품제작을 중심으로 한 연구로서, 무라카미 다카시 작품의 조형적 특성을 아트메이크업 디자인으로 구현하는 데 목적이 있다. 기존 아트메이크업 관련 연구가 주로 특정 미술 사조의 표현 경향이나 기법적 활용에 초점을 두어 왔다면, 본 연구는 무라카미 다카시 작품을 조형 요소 중심으로 살펴보고 이를 실제 아트메이크업 작품 제작으로 연결한 점 에서 기존 연구와 구별되는 특징을 지닌다.
이를 위해 무라카미 다카시의 1990년대부터 현재까지의 평면작품 100점 을 선정하여, 작품에 반복적으로 나타나는 조형성을 분석하였다. 그 결과 유희성, 반복성, 그로테스크성, 문화 혼성성이라는 4가지 조형적 특성이 도출되었으며, 이에 기반하여 총 8점의 아트메이크업 작품을 제작하였다.
작품 제작 결과, 회화의 평면적 조형 요소가 얼굴이라는 입체적 매체 위에서도 각 특성의 이미지에 따라 새롭게 표현될 수 있음을 확인하였다. 유희성 작업에서는 고채도 색채를 활용해 즉각적인 즐거움을 강조하였고, 반복성 작업에서는 모티프의 밀집과 분산을 통해 시선의 흐름을 구성하였 다. 그로테스크성 작업에서는 극단적인 대비를 통해 상반된 감정을 드러냈으며, 문화 혼성성 작업에서는 전통 문양과 팝적 요소를 결합해 새로운 이미지를 제시하였다. 이를 통해 무라카미 다카시 작품의 조형적 특성이 얼굴이라는 매체를 통해 시각적으로 드러날 수 있음을 확인하였다.
본 연구는 현대미술 작가의 작품을 조형 요소 중심으로 분석하여, 이를 메이크업으로 표현하는 과정을 제시하였다는 점에서 학술적 의의를 지닌다. 또한 8개 아트메이크업 작품 제작을 통해 조형 요소의 변환 과정이 실제 메이크업 디자인에 적용될 수 있음을 확인하였으며, 뷰티아트 분야 에서 특정 현대미술 작가의 작품을 조형 요소 관점에서 살펴보고 이를 작 품 제작으로 연결한 연구 사례를 제시하였다.
이러한 연구 과정을 통해 아트메이크업이 단순한 미용 표현을 넘어 예 술적 개념과 조형 언어를 시각적으로 구현하는 창작 수단으로 기능할 수 있음을 확인하였다. 나아가 본 연구는 특정 현대미술 작가의 작품을 조형 요소 중심으로 분석하고 이를 작품 제작으로 연결하는 하나의 접근 방식 을 제시한다는 점에서, 향후 예술 기반 메이크업 디자인 연구와 창작 작 업에 참고될 수 있을 것으로 본다.

In the modern global cultural industry, art, fashion, and beauty are closely combined, and collaboration between fields is becoming active. In particular, contemporary art goes beyond the category of pure art and combines with commercial and popular areas, and Takashi Murakami is an artist who represents this trend of change by breaking the boundaries between high-end art and popular culture through the concept of "Superflat." As the formative elements of art are expanding to various fields, the expression method that actively borrows the formative language of contemporary art is gradually expanding in the field of art makeup.
This study focuses on the production of works and aims to implement the formative characteristics of Takashi Murakami's works through art makeup design. If existing art makeup-related studies have mainly focused on the expression trend or technical use of specific art trends, this study is distinct from previous studies in that Takashi Murakami's works are examined focusing on formative elements and connected them to actual art makeup works.
To this end, 100 flat works by Takashi Murakami from the 1990s to the present were selected, and the formability that repeatedly appears in the works was analyzed. As a result, four formative characteristics of playability, repeatability, grotesque, and cultural hybridity were derived, and a total of eight art makeup works were produced based on this.
As a result of the production of the work, it was confirmed that the flat formative elements of the painting can be newly expressed according to the image of each characteristic even on the three-dimensional medium of the face. In the playability work, immediate pleasure was emphasized by using high-color colors, and in the repeatability work, the flow of gaze was composed through the density and dispersion of motifs. In the grotesque work, contradictory emotions were revealed through extreme contrast, and in the cultural hybrid work, a new image was presented by combining traditional patterns and pop elements. Through this, it was confirmed that the formative characteristics of Takashi Murakami's work can be visually revealed through the medium of the face.
This study has academic significance in that it analyzes the works of contemporary artists focusing on formative elements and presents the process of expressing them through makeup. In addition, through the production of eight art makeup works, it was confirmed that the conversion process of formative elements can be applied to actual makeup design, and a research case was presented in which the work of a specific contemporary artist in the beauty art field was examined from the perspective of formative elements and linked it to the production of works.
Through this research process, it was confirmed that art makeup can function as a creative means of visually realizing artistic concepts and formative language beyond simple beauty expressions. Furthermore, this study is expected to be used as a reference for future art-based makeup design research and creative work in that it analyzes the works of specific contemporary artists focusing on formative elements and presents an approach that connects them to the production of works.
