A Study on Braid Hair Design with Flower Motivation representing the Four Seasons

Hair design expresses an individual's individuality and identity, and is one of the artistic expressions that reflect the trend of the times and aesthetic sense. Among the countless motifs of nature, flowers, one of the beautiful and artistic materials, give humans a sense of stability and visual pleasure. Flowers have symbolic meanings in both form and four seasons, so they are expressed as motifs that enable visual and emotional communication.
Braid hair can try various styles, and it can be seen that it has a strong characteristic of creative sense and originality in which artistic value is exhibited.
This study expressed flowers representing the four seasons as motifs, focusing on the expression technique of braid hair and other techniques, and researched and produced 3 works in spring flowers, 2 works in summer flowers, 2 works in autumn flowers, and 1 work i winter flowers using other techniques of braid hair and upstyle.
Art I expresses a work in which petals are shaped with forsythia as a motif, and the calm and beauty of forsythia bloom are used alternately in symmetry balance, repetition of loop and three-stranded braids, and mixed texture of activation and unactivation.
With cherry blossoms as a motif, Art II expresses a work in which the texture of activation and unactivation contrasts with the repetitive techniques of three-stranded braids, cornrows, and loops, shaping the petals of cherry blossoms in full bloom on cherry trees.
With magnolia as a motif, Work III expresses a work in which the unactivated mash and activated three-stranded braids that can represent the elegance of magnolia are repeated and contrasted.
With the motif of hydrangeas, Work IV attempted to represent the form of rich hydrangeas gathered in one place. The beauty of the hydrangeas with an asymmetric balance was expressed by using a loop technique that is repeated with three braids on the frontal part and the occipital part and progresses gradually downward.
Work V expresses the sunflower with the longest stem with a sunflower motif. The overall shape is emphasized by shaping the petals of sunflowers with braids on the crown and expressing waves on the occipital part.
The Ⅵ of the work is a motif of chrysanthemums, and it shows a form that can emphasize the petals of chrysanthemums on the occipital part to express elegant works.
The Ⅶ of the work forms the petals of cosmos with cosmos as a motif, and as it progresses to the occipital region, the elements of the technique are repeated, and the work emphasizing beauty is expressed. With camellia flowers as a motif, the Ⅷ expresses the petals of camellia flowers with mash expression and three-stranded braids, and expresses the fascinating and feminine atmosphere that contrasts with activation and unactivation.
This study reconstructed the shape of the petals of each flower by producing a braid hair work with a motif representing the four seasons, minimizing the realistic aspect and inducing the imagination of the researcher's work. As a result of producing the design of the work by deriving a motif from a flower, one of nature, it was expressed as a work design reflecting the morphological and formative image of the motif.
Flowers have symbolic meanings in both form and four seasons, so they are expressed as motifs, and we hope that design research on braid will continue based on the results of this study of braid hair with a motif of "flowers.“

국문 초록 (Abstract)

사계절을 대표하는 꽃을 모티브로 한 브레이드 헤어디자인 연구

헤어디자인은 개인의 개성과 정체성을 표현하며, 시대적 흐름과 미적 감각을 반영하는 예술적 표현 중 하나이다. 자연의 무수한 모티브 중에서 아름답고 예술적인 소재 중 하나인 꽃은 인간에게 안정감과 시각적으로 즐거움을 준다. 꽃은 형태적으로나 사계절별로 상징적인 의미를 모두 가 지고 있어 시각적, 정서적 소통이 가능한 모티브로 표현이 되고 있다.
브레이드 헤어는 다양한 스타일을 시도할 수 있으며, 예술적 가치가 발휘되는 창의적인 감각과 독창성의 특징이 강하다고 볼 수 있다.
본 연구는 브레이드 헤어의 표현기법과 그 외 기법들을 중심으로 사계 절을 대표하는 꽃들을 모티브로 표현하여, 브레이드 헤어와 업스타일의 다른 기법들을 활용하여 봄꽃에서 3 작품, 여름꽃에서 2 작품, 가을꽃에서 2 작품, 겨울꽃에서 1 작품을 연구 제작하였다.
작품 Ⅰ은 개나리를 모티브로 하여 꽃잎을 형태화하고, 전체적으로 개 나리가 피는 잔잔함과 아름다움을 대칭 균형과 루프와 세가닥 땋기 기법 들의 반복, 액티베이트와 언액티베이트의 혼합 질감이 교대로 활용된 작품을 표현하였다.
작품 Ⅱ는 벚꽃을 모티브로 하여, 벚나무에 만개한 벚꽃의 꽃잎을 형태 화하면서, 세가닥 땋기와 콘로우, 루프의 반복적인 기법과 액티베이트와 언액티베이트의 질감이 대조되는 작품을 표현하였다.
작품 Ⅲ는 목련을 모티브로 하여, 목련의 우아함을 나타낼 수 있는 언 액티베이트한 매쉬와 액티베이트한 세가닥 땋기가 반복되고, 대조되는 작 품을 표현하였다.
작품 Ⅳ는 수국을 모티브로 하여 한 곳에 모아져 있는 풍성한 수국의 형태를 나타내고자 했다. 전두부에 세가닥 집어땋기와 후두부로 반복되며, 점점 아래로 진행되는 루프 기법을 사용하여 전체적인 비대칭 균형의 수 국의 아름다움을 표현했다.
작품 Ⅴ는 해바라기를 모티브로 하여, 줄기가 가장 길게나는 해바라기 를 표현하였다. 크라운에 땋기로 해바라기의 꽃잎을 형태화시키고, 후두부 에 웨이브를 표현함으로써 전체적인 형태가 강조되는 작품을 표현하였다.
작품 Ⅵ은 국화를 모티브로 하여, 후두부에 국화의 꽃잎을 강조할 수 있는 형태를 나타내어 우아한 작품을 표현하였다. 작품 Ⅶ은 코스모스를 모티브로 하여 코스모스의 꽃잎을 형태화하여, 후두부로 진행할수록 기법의 요소가 반복되고, 아름다움을 강조한 작품을 표현하였다.
작품 Ⅷ은 동백꽃을 모티브로 하여 매쉬표현과 세가닥 땋기로 동백꽃의 꽃잎을 표현하고, 액티베이트와 언액티베이트의 대조되는 매혹적이고 여성스러운 분위기를 강조한 작품을 표현하였다.
본 연구는 사계절을 대표하는 꽃을 모티브로 브레이드 헤어 작품을 제 작하여 각각의 꽃이 가지고 있는 꽃잎의 형태를 재구성하였으며, 사실적 인 면은 최소화하고 연구자의 작품의 상상력을 유도하였다. 작품의 디자 인을 자연 중의 하나인 꽃에서 모티브를 도출하여 제작을 한 결과, 모티 브의 형태적, 조형적 이미지가 반영된 작품 디자인으로 표현되었다. 꽃은 형태적으로나 사계절별로 상징적인 의미를 모두 가지고 있어 모티브 로 표현이 되고 있으며, ‘꽃’을 모티브로 한 브레이드 헤어의 본 연구의 결과 를 바탕으로 브레이드에 대한 디자인연구가 지속적으로 진행되기를 희망한다.
