This study aims to systematically analyze 10 key cut techniques for diversifying beauty men's cut styles and study the practical applicability of 10 cuts, and men's cuts are evolving beyond simple length control into artistic means to express individuality and identity through texture, layer, and structural contrast.
Therefore, this study produced a total of 10 male hair cuts, including crop cuts, Ivy League cuts, regent cuts, gilets, pomad cuts, two-block hair cuts, dandy cuts, slick cuts, leaf cuts, and wolf cuts, and explained and produced each style's cut method, technique, tool utilization, and styling methods.
First, the crop cut is a style that focuses on creating a neat and unique image, and the side and back hair are treated briefly with clippers to create a clean base, and the top hair is left longer than the side and back hair to emphasize texture and volume.
Second, Ivy League cut is a classic yet neat male hairstyle, a name derived from the style of Ivy League students, a prestigious university in the United States, and was produced by cutting it short to emphasize a modern feeling.
Third, the regent cut is a classic and sophisticated male hairstyle that originated from the style popular among young people in the Regent area of London in the 1930s, and the side and back hair are cut short with a clipper to create a neat look, and the bangs are moved to the side without completely flipping them to give a soft impression.
Fourth, the Gail Cut is a male hairstyle inspired by Japanese cartoon/animated characters, featuring a sophisticated part and a neat silhouette, parted in a 6:4 ratio, one front of which is turned over and the other naturally flows down on the forehead.
Fifth, the pomade cut is the most masculine style among the 10 cut images, featuring a classic and sophisticated image with a 2:8 split, the side and back hair are fade-shaped, and the bangs and top hair are designed to stand out so that they do not come down to the forehead.
Sixth, the two-block hair cut is a style that combines natural sophistication and practicality, and is loved by many men because it is easy to transform according to the individual's face shape and life style. It emphasizes a more delicate and sophisticated connection than the existing two-block, makes the back of the head look three-dimensional, and uses oil essence to express a lot of texture.
Seventh, Dandy Cut is a men's hairstyle that emphasizes a clean and sophisticated image, is suitable for various face shapes and is a practical style that is easy to maintain, and the side and back hair are made invisible to the skin, and the front and top hair are made to be relatively long to form a soft volume.
Eighth, the slim cut is similar to the dandy cut, but it is more casual than the dandy cut and is characterized by reducing the amount of hair overall, making it look lighter. The top hair expressed a lot of texture with thinning scissors, especially reducing the weight of the bangs and top hair as much as possible compared to the existing dandy cut, and using oil essence to express a light texture.
Ninth, Wolfcut is a style that harmonizes Retro sensibility with modern sense, and as the style name implies, it is a natural and rough style like "wolf", the side hair is cut short in two blocks, the back hair is wrapped around the neck to contrast the side and the back hair, and the back and top hair are made by emphasizing the rough texture.
Ten, leaf cuts are a modern male hairstyle that emphasizes natural layers and soft flows, derived from leaf-shaped silhouettes, and the side, back, and top hair were created with a neutral feel using gradation and layer techniques.
This study explained the characteristics of 10 men's haircuts, systematically analyzed the cut method and results, and based on this, it will contribute to providing styling strategies to hairdressers and beauty industry workers who are new to men's haircuts.

국문 초록 (Abstract)

본 연구는 미용 남성 커트 스타일의 다양화를 위한 10가지 핵심 커트 기법을 체계적으로 분석하고, 10가지 커트의 실무적 적용 가능성을 연구 하는 데 목적을 두며, 남성 커트는 단순한 길이 조절을 넘어 텍스처(Text ure), 레이어(Layer), 구조적 대비를 통해 개성과 정체성을 표현하는 예술적 수단으로 진화하고 있다.
이에 본 연구는 크롭컷, 아이비리그컷, 리젠트컷, 가일컷, 포마드컷, 투 블럭 가르마컷, 댄디컷, 슬릭컷, 리프컷, 울프컷 총 10가지 남성 헤어 커트를 제작하고, 각 스타일의 커트 방법, 테크닉(Technique), 도구활용, 스타 일링(Styling) 방법을 설명하고 제작하였다.
첫째, 크롭컷은 단정하면서도 개성적인 이미지를 연출하는 데 중점을 둔 스타일이고, 옆머리와 뒷머리는 클리퍼로 짧게 처리하여 깔끔한 베이 스를 만들며, 윗머리는 옆머리, 뒷머리보다 길게 남겨 텍스처와 볼륨을 강조하여 제작하였다.
둘째, 아이비리그컷은 클래식(Classic)하면서도 단정한 남성 헤어스타일로, 미국 명문 대학인 아이비리그 학생들의 스타일에서 유래된 이름이고, 전체적으로 짧게 커팅(Cutting)하여 모던(Modern)한 느낌을 강조하여 제작하였다.
셋째, 리젠트컷은 클래식하면서도 세련된 남성 헤어스타일로, 1930년대 영국 런던의 리젠트 지역 청년들 사이에서 유행한 스타일에서 유래되었고, 옆머리와 뒷머리는 클리퍼로 짧게 커팅하여 깔끔하게 연출하며, 앞머리는 완전히 넘기지 않고 옆으로 넘어가, 부드러운 인상을 줄 수 있도록 제작하였다.
넷째, 가일컷은 일본 만화/애니메이션 캐릭터에서 영감을 받은 남성 헤어스타일로, 세련된 가르마 처리와 단정한 실루엣이 특징이고, 6:4 비율로 가르마를 타며, 한쪽 앞머리는 위로 넘기고 반대쪽은 이마에 자연스럽게 흘러내리도록 제작하였다.
다섯째, 포마드컷은 10가지 커트 이미지 중 가장 남성적인 스타일로써, 2:8 가르마를 하여 클래식하면서도 세련된 이미지가 특징이고, 옆머리와 뒷머리는 페이드(fade) 형태로 하였으며, 앞머리와 윗머리가 이마로 내려 오지 않게 깔끔함이 돋보일 수 있도록 제작하였다.
여섯째, 투블럭 가르마컷은 자연스러운 세련미와 실용성을 겸비한 스타일로, 개인의 얼굴형과 라이프 스타일(Life Style)에 맞게 변형하기 쉬워 많은 남성들에게 사랑받는 스타일이고. 기존의 투블럭(Two-block)보다 더욱 섬세하고 세련된 연결감을 강조하며, 뒤통수를 입체적으로 보이게 하였고, 오일 에센스(Oil essence)를 활용하여, 텍스처가 많이 표현될 수 있도록 제작하였다.
일곱째, 댄디컷은 깔끔하고 세련된 이미지를 강조하는 남성 헤어스타일로, 다양한 얼굴형에 적합하며 손질이 편리한 실용적 스타일이고 옆머리 와 뒷머리는 피부가 보이지 않는 길이로 하였으며, 앞머리와 윗머리는 상 대적으로 길게 남겨 부드러운 볼륨감이 형성될 수 있도록 제작하였다.
여덟째, 슬릭컷은 댄디컷과 유사한 스타일이지만 댄디컷보다 캐주얼(Ca sual)하고 전반적으로 모발의 양을 많이 줄여, 가벼워 보이는 것이 특징이고 윗머리는 틴닝(Thinning)가위로 질감 표현을 많이 하였으며, 특히 앞 머리와 윗머리의 무게감을 기존의 댄디컷보다 최대한 줄이고, 오일 에센스를 활용하여 가벼운 텍스처가 표현될 수 있도록 제작하였다.
아홉째, 울프컷은 레트로(Retro) 감성과 현대적인 감각이 조화를 이룬 스타일로, 스타일 이름 그대로 “늑대”처럼 자연스럽고 거친 느낌의 스타 일이고, 옆머리는 투블럭으로 짧게 자르며, 뒷머리는 목을 감싸 옆머리와 뒷머리가 대비되도록 하였고, 뒷머리와 윗머리는 층을 많이 내어 거친 텍스처를 강조하여 제작하였다.
열째, 리프컷은 자연스러운 층과 부드러운 흐름을 강조하는 현대적 남성 헤어스타일로, 나뭇잎(Leaf) 모양의 실루엣에서 이름이 유래되었고, 옆머리와 뒷머리,윗머리를 그래쥬에이션(Graduation)과 레이어(Layer) 테크 닉을 활용하여 중성적인 느낌으로 제작하였다.
본 연구는 남성 헤어 커트 10가지 스타일의 특징을 설명하였고, 커트 방법 및 결과를 체계적으로 분석하였으며, 이를 바탕으로 남성 헤어 커트에 처음 입문하는 헤어디자이너와 미용 산업 종사자에게 스타일링 전략을 제공하는 데 기여할 것이다.
