Establishing a green consumption culture among consumers has emerged as a critical challenge for achieving carbon neutrality by 2050. Since the introduction of the Carbon Footprint Labelling System in 2009, the Korean government has promoted environmentally friendly consumption by integrating it with the Environmental Product Declaration system since 2016. As environmental issues such as climate change and resource depletion intensify, awareness of sustainable consumption continues to expand, and companies are actively participating in environmental product declaration and low-carbon certification programs. In this context, securing price premiums for environmentally certified products has become a key factor in providing economic incentives for companies. This study aims to analyze consumer perceptions and willingness to pay for environmental product declaration and low-carbon certified products, and to quantitatively identify the premium factors these products hold in the market. To this end, premium analysis was conducted using big data-based web crawling data from online distribution platforms and hedonic pricing models, while consumer perceptions and willingness to pay were examined through surveys. In addition, the definition and operational status of the certification system were analyzed through literature review and comparison with previous studies, and product attribute differentiation and certification effects were comprehensively examined. The main findings are as follows: first, the hedonic pricing model analysis showed that environmental product declaration and low-carbon certification did not form statistically significant price premiums across all three products, whereas organic agricultural raw material certification for nurungji, pesticide-free processed food certification, and the use of domestic raw materials for tofu showed significant price premiums. Second, consumer awareness surveys indicated that 64.3% of respondents were unaware of environmental product declaration and 30.3% were unaware of low-carbon certification, although more than 70% expressed positive views on the need to expand these systems. Third, direct willingness-to-pay analysis showed that respondents willing to pay additional premiums indicated ranges of 16.9–27.8% for environmental product declaration products and 16.0–21.3% for low-carbon certified products, but when including all respondents, these values decreased significantly to 3.6–9.2%. Fourth, conjoint analysis revealed that the country-of-origin attribute had the highest willingness to pay across all product categories, while willingness to pay for environmental certifications remained relatively low. Fifth, the main reason for purchasing eco-friendly products was perceived health benefits (65.3%), whereas the primary reason for hesitation was price (68.7%). Overall, the results indicate that environmental certification does not currently function as a significant price differentiation factor in the market, and consumers place greater importance on food safety and quality than on environmental values. These findings suggest that improving consumer awareness, integrating certification strategies with origin information, and adopting differentiated approaches by product category are necessary to enhance the effectiveness of environmental certification systems.
