    Climate change has substantial impacts on the structure and functioning of forest ecosystems, and growth responses of major tree species play a crucial role in determining forest timber productivity and carbon storage capacity. This study aims to examine the effects of climate change on the growth of major tree species in South Korea and to predict future changes in stand volume under climate change scenarios. To this end, tree height (H) and diameter at breast height (DBH) data will be extracted from the National Forest Inventory (NFI), and growth models will be developed using climatic variables—temperature and precipitation provided by the Korea Meteorological Administration—along with topographic and climatic indices such as the Minimum Temperature of the Coldest Month Index (MTCI), Precipitation Evaporation Index (PEI), latitude, and elevation. Future stand volume will be estimated by applying climate change scenarios to the developed growth models. The findings of this study are expected to enhance the understanding of growth responses of major tree species to climate change in South Korea and provide fundamental information for establishing adaptive forest management and species-specific strategies under changing climatic conditions.
