중국 전통문화 요소의 시각적 변용과 신화 소재 3D 애니메이션 작품 연구 = A Study on the Visual Transformation of Elements of Traditional Chinese Culture and 3D Animation Based on Mythology

국문 초록 (Abstract)

이번 연구는 중국 전통문화 요소의 신화 소재 3D 애니메이션 분석을 기반으로, 중국 신화 소재가 현대 3D 애니메이션 영화 창작에서 어떻게 응용되고 있는지를 탐구하였다. 중국 전통문화 요소를 계승하는 동시에 혁신과 발전을 실현하기 위해, 중국 3D 애니메이션 영화 작품은 중국 전통문화 요소를 캐릭터의 형태, 복장, 무늬, 건축 등에 융합하였다. 중국 3D 애니메이션 영화 작품은 현재의 새로운 매체를 통해 중국 문화의 계승에 특별한 방식을 제공하였다. 이번 연구에서는 2015년에 개봉된 <신서유기: 몽키킹의 부활(西遊記之大聖歸來)>, 2019년에 개봉된 <백사:연기(白蛇：緣起)>，<나타지마동강세(哪吒之魔童降世)> 세 신화 소재 3D 애니메이션 영화 작품을 사례로, 캐릭터의 이미지 설계, 건축, 서사 구조 등의 부분을 체계적으로 분석하였으며, 색채, 액션, 표정, 특수효과 등 방면에서 중국 전통문화 요소를 어떻게 사용하였는지를 알아봤다. 그리고 연구의 혁신 포인트로 AI 기술로 세 영화 작품의 중요한 장면을 분석하였다. 그리고 중국 3D 애니메이션 영화 작품이 중국 신화 소재를 어떻게 표현했는지 분석하고, 캐릭터 이미지 디자인으로 어떻게 구체적으로 캐릭터의 세계관을 표현했는지 제시하였다. 중국 신화 소재 캐릭터의 성격과 개성을 어떻게 구축하고, 중국 전통문화의 내포를 어떻게 나타내고, 캐릭터의 입체적인 모습을 어떻게 완성하였는지를 분석하여 향후 중국의 신화 소재 3D 애니메이션 영화 작품 제작에 새로운 시사점을 제공하였다. 중국의 영화인은 중국 전통문화를 계승하고 중국 전통문화의 내포를 발굴하여 중국 전통문화의 혁신, 발전, 홍보를 위해 노력 해야 하며 글로벌 시대 배경 하에서 중국 3D 애니메이션 영화 작품이 전 세계 사람들로부터 인정받을 수 있는 요건들을 계속해서 찾아내야 한다. 중국 전통문화 요소는 현대 3D 애니메이션 영화 작품의 새로운 표현 방식이며, 중국 전통문화 기호와 현대 디지털 예술을 이어주는 역할을 하고 있다.
3D 애니메이션 영화 작품은 모델링, 렌더링, 특수효과 등 현대 기술로 중국 전통문화에 새로운 표현 방식을 제공하였다. 특히 특수효과와 3D 모션 캡처 기술의 응용은 신화 소재 영화 작품의 현실감을 증대하고 3D 애니메이션 영화 작품의 디지털 기술 발전에 기여하였다. VR과 AR은 인간과 기계의 상호작용을 통해 관객이 가상 신화 세계에 몰입하게 했다. 3D 애니메이션 영화 작품은 중국에서 널리 알려진 중국 신화 이야기를 현대 주류 사상과 결합하여 원작을 새롭게 재현한 것이며, 현대적인 서사 줄거리를 통해 중국 전통문화의 새로운 예술적 표현 방법을 계속해서 발굴하고 있다. 이는 중국 전통문화 요소를 다양하게 재현하는데 좋은 무대를 제공했다. 3D 애니메이션 기술과 중국 전통문화의 융합 과정은 기술을 문화 전달에 사용하는 과정이며 중국 전통문화의 예술성을 크게 향상했다. 이러한 융합은 내용과 형식의 결합일 뿐만 아니라, 문화와 기술의 공명이다. 앞으로, 신화 소재의 3D 애니메이션 영화 작품의 창작은 문화의 깊이와 정신의 높이를 잘 결합하고 예술적 품질을 향상해야 한다. 시청률보다는 3D 애니메이션 영화의 품질에 중점을 두어야 한다. 현대 과학기술이 계속해서 발전하고 중국 3D 애니메이션 산업이 계속해서 발전하면서, 중국 신화 소재의 3D 애니메이션도 더욱 깊이 있고 풍부한 예술적 매력을 발산할 것으로 예상된다.

다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

This study investigates how Chinese mythological themes are applied in contemporary 3D animated film production, based on an analysis of Chinese traditional cultural elements within myth-themed 3D animations. In order to inherit, innovate, and further develop traditional cultural resources, Chinese 3D animated films integrate traditional cultural elements—such as character forms, costumes, patterns, and architectural motifs—into their visual and narrative design. Through new media technologies, Chinese 3D animated films provide unique modes for the transmission of Chinese culture.This research takes three myth-themed 3D animated films as its primary case studies: Monkey King: Hero Is Back(2015), White Snake(2019), and Ne Zha(2019). It systematically analyzes aspects such as character image design, architectural representation, and narrative structure, and examines how traditional cultural elements are employed in color schemes, action design, facial expressions, and special effects. As part of the study’s methodological innovation, key scenes from the three films were analyzed using AI-based techniques.Furthermore, the research explores how Chinese 3D animated films express mythological themes, how character image design articulates each film’s worldview, how the personalities and identities of mythological characters are constructed, and how the connotations of traditional Chinese culture are embodied within these depictions. By revealing how multidimensional character portrayals are formed, the study offers new insights for the future production of Chinese myth-themed 3D animated films.The findings suggest that Chinese filmmakers should continue to inherit and revitalise traditional culture, uncover its cultural depth, and promote its innovative development. Within the context of globalization, it is crucial to identify the conditions under which Chinese 3D animated films can be recognized and appreciated by audiences worldwide. Traditional Chinese cultural elements serve not only as new expressive strategies for modern 3D animation but also as a bridge connecting traditional cultural symbols with contemporary digital art.
Modern technologies such as modeling, rendering, and special effects have
provided new modes of expression for Chinese traditional culture in 3D animated films. In particular, the application of special effects and 3D motion-capture techniques has enhanced the sense of realism in myth-themed films and contributed to the technological advancement of 3D animation. VR and AR technologies, through interactions between humans and machines, allow audiences to immerse themselves in virtual mythological worlds.3D animated films reinterpret well-known Chinese mythological stories by integrating them with contemporary values and mainstream ideologies, thereby creating renewed versions of the originals. Through modern narrative structures, these works continue to explore new artistic approaches for expressing traditional Chinese culture, offering an effective platform for the diverse representation of traditional cultural elements.The integration of 3D animation technology with Chinese traditional culture represents not only the application of technology in cultural transmission but also a substantial enhancement of the artistic quality of traditional culture. Such integration constitutes a resonance between content and form, as well as between culture and technology.In the future, the creation of myth-themed 3D animated films should strive to harmonize cultural depth with spiritual elevation while improving overall artistic quality. The focus should shift from viewership metrics to the intrinsic quality of 3D animation. As modern technologies continue to evolve and the Chinese 3D animation industry advances, myth-themed 3D animated films are expected to exhibit even greater depth and richer artistic appeal.
