This study analyzes how government support programs influence innovation performance among electronic information device firms in Daegu, with attention to the role of university collaboration. Using case studies of three institutions participating in regional support programs, the research identifies how public funding, technical assistance, and university-provided patents, infrastructure, and human resources contribute to prototype development, testing, and early market entry.
Across cases, firms achieved outcomes such as patent filings, technology transfers, certifications, and overseas buyer engagement. Institutional differences led to varied strengths—ranging from technological advancement to global networking and commercialization. The findings suggest that the effectiveness of government support depends not only on funding but also on the alignment between institutional mechanisms, university capabilities, and firm needs within the regional innovation ecosystem.
