여기서 초점을 두고 있는 세 가지 주요 개념이란 무법칙적 일원론(anomalous monism), 심적 전체론(the holism of the mental), 그리고 삼각작용(triangulation)이다.

This thesis aims to analyze and elaborate the theoretical trends in Donald Davidson’s philosophy of mind by examining the semantic implications, logical consequences, and the interrelations among his three central concepts — anomalous monism, mental holism, and triangulation. Anomalous monism represents Davidson’s distinctive solution to the problem of mental–physical causation: while mental events can stand in causal relations with physical events, and particular mental and physical descriptions may in fact refer to the same physical event, no strict psychophysical laws allow for their reduction. That is, he accepts a supervenience relation between mental and physical events while rejecting reductive identification. The holism of the mental, on Davidson’s account, holds that a mental event or belief proposition attains proper meaning only through its inferential connections with other psychological predicates and the semantic warrant provided by those connections; the totality of such linkages, Davidson contends, constitutes an essential structure of the mind. Triangulation, in turn, denotes the threefold relation among the self, the second person, and the shared external world. A relation that grounds linguistic practice and intentionality. This triangular structure is both a necessary and sufficient condition of language and the very source of thought in its ordinary sense.
The three aforementioned concepts are closely connected to a variety of topics that are frequently discussed in an attempt to elucidate the mind. In their respective justifying structures or theoretical formulations, they often appear in a mutually supportive capacity. For example, mental holism provides the basis for anomalous monism and indicates the rationality of the mind. Meanwhile, triangulation justifies Davidson’s attempt to provide a linguistic understanding of physical and mental events. Anomalous monism preserves the autonomy of the mental while allowing for a plurality of interpretive approaches to the mental domain. Davidson’s notion of triangulation provides a detailed account of how structural aspects of the mental relate to the systematicity of language. This interconnected framework is central not only to Davidson’s philosophy of mind but also to his theories of action and interpretation.
