동질성이 확보된 변인들은 이원 반복측정 분산 분석(two-way repeated measures analysis of variance (ANOVA))과 대비 검증(contrast test)으로 분석하였으며, 동질성이 확보되지 못한 변인(전신반응)은 공분산 분석(analysis of variance, ANCOVA)으로 분석하였다.

The purpose of this study was to examine the effects of 12 weeks of plyometric training on body composition (weight, skeletal muscle mass, body fat mass, and body fat percentage), muscle function (strength, muscular endurance, agility, power, whole-body reaction, and isokinetic strength), and anaerobic capacity (mean power, maximal power, and fatigue index) in college-aged males. Twenty-one participants with no regular exercise at least 6 months before this study period were randomly assigned to either plyometric training group (n = 11, EX) or non-exercise control group (n = 10, CON). The participants in the EX performed plyometric training (three times per week for 12 weeks) while the participants in the CON maintained their usual lifestyle during the same period. Baseline homogeneity of all variables was verified using independent t-tests. For variables showing homogeneity, two-way repeated-measures ANOVA with contrast tests was conducted, and for variables without homogeneity (whole-body reaction), ANCOVA was applied. All data were analyzed using SPSS 27.0, with the level of significance set at α = .05. Results showed multiple performance improvements in the EX group. Leg extension strength significantly increased from pre-test to post-test in the EX group, whereas no significant change was found in the CON group; additionally, post-test values in the EX group were significantly higher than those in the CON group. Chest press and lat pull-down performance also increased significantly in the EX group, with no corresponding changes in the CON group. Sit-up performance improved only in the EX group. Similarly, left knee extension torque at 180°/s (Nm) significantly increased in the EX group but decreased in the CON group. Finally, both mean power (Watts, W/kg) and maximal power (Watts, W/kg) showed significant increases in the EX group, while no significant differences were observed in the CON group. This study indicates that 12 weeks of plyometric training have positively affected muscle function and anaerobic capacity in college-aged males. Therefore, plyometric training can be presented as an effective exercise method for improving muscle strength, physical fitness, and health among college-aged males who require consistent participation in physical activity.
