This study addresses the structural challenges of data discontinuity and utilization inefficiency in high-tech industrial construction projects, aiming to propose an integrated data management framework that enables AI-based decision support. While high-tech industries generate vast amounts of data across all project phases, the current EPC execution environment suffers from fragmented management and a lack of standardization, limiting the effective use of accumulated information for decision-making.
To resolve these issues, this research designs a "Hybrid Data Architecture" integrating Data Lake, Data Warehouse, and Data Mesh concepts, based on a comprehensive review of literature and case studies. This architecture accommodates heterogeneous data—including outputs from BIM, digital platforms, and legacy systems—while ensuring interoperability by clarifying domain-level data ownership and quality accountability.
Furthermore, the project data flow is restructured into a five-phase process: Phase 0 collects raw data from diverse source systems; Phase 1 transforms data into analyzable formats using NLP-based cleansing and structuring modules; Phase 2performs domain-driven quality validation and productization to enhance standardization; Phase 3 supports critical decisions in schedule, cost, quality, and safety via AI training and inference; and Phase 4 completes a closed-loop cycle by reflecting outcomes back into operations and learning datasets. This process integrates data catalogs and governance mechanisms to ensure traceability and reliability.
This study contributes by extending the scope of data architecture from simple storage to an AI-enabled decision support system and by offering practical alternatives through domain-centric governance. However, as the validation was primarily limited to simulation-based verification, future research is required to empirically verify the framework through real-world project applications and to further advance security and operational governance systems.
