This thesis addresses the critical gap in existing research regarding mixture regression models applied to heteroscedastic data where data variance changes as a function of covariates. To develop a robust solution, we first review the theoretical foundation of mixture models and the expectation-maximization (EM) algorithm. Critically, we then introduce hypersphere decomposition into the framework. This decomposition is specifically used to overcome the difficulty of maintaining the positive definiteness of high-dimensional covariance matrices, a common obstacle in complex modeling. The resulting analytical framework enables modeling of data exhibiting heteroscedasticity across multiple underlying groups. We evaluate both the theoretical validity and practical performance of the proposed method using simulation studies and real-data analyses, confirming its robustness. The primary contribution of this work lies in the successful application of a multivariate mixture regression model in settings where it has typically been avoided. This methodology offers a practical and valuable analytical tool for situations characterized by covariate-dependent variance and complex inter-variable correlations.
