We consider multivariate gamma data that are mostly concentrated around the grand mean vector. This pattern arises in various applications, such as failure times of machines, waiting times for customers, absolute returns of firms, and so on. Recently, Hamura et al. (2024) developed a global-local shrinkage prior based on shape-scale mixtures of inverse-gamma distributions, which is designed for univariate positive-valued observations concentrated around the grand mean. We extend this framework to multivariate data through the integration of structural similarity across dimensions, building on the joint modeling approach proposed by Lingjaerde et al. (2024). Specifically, when the scaled beta (SB) prior is expressed in a hierarchical form, common latent variables are introduced to allow information to be shared across dimensions. By introducing such common latent variables, we aim to achieve an adaptive joint inference, which (1) improves the performance of inference when there is strong similarity across dimensions by sharing information, while (2) maintains performance comparable to independent inference when the similarity is weak. We incorporate the Metropolis-within-Gibbs algorithm to efficiently sample from the posterior distribution. Through various simulation studies, we evaluate the performance of the proposed method and demonstrate its practical utility with an application to gene expression data.
