The rapid miniaturization and high integration of modern electronic devices have intensified the issues of electromagnetic interference (EMI) and localized overheating, which critically degrade system reliability. While conventional approaches have been employed to mitigate these challenges, they face distinct limitations. Traditional metal shielding materials are hindered by high manufacturing costs, excessive weight, and susceptibility to corrosion. Furthermore, conventional discrete temperature sensors are subject to spatial and structural constraints that create thermal gaps between the heat source and the sensor, making accurate temperature detection difficult.

To address these challenges, this study used fused deposition modeling (FDM) 3D printing to fabricate a multifunctional thermoplastic polyurethane (TPU)/carbon nanotube (CNT) composite. TPU/CNT filaments with different CNT ratios (0–20 wt%) were fabricated. Although the 20 wt% composite exhibited high electrical conductivity (~600 S/m), its excessive melt viscosity made it unsuitable for printing.

Consequently, the 10 wt% composition was selected for its optimal balance of printability and performance. The fabricated multifunctional module achieved a maximum EMI shielding effectiveness (SE) of 30.25 dB in the Ku-band (12.4–18 GHz), significantly exceeding the commercial requirement of 20 dB.

Furthermore, the module demonstrated thermoelectric capabilities with a Seebeck coefficient of 39.96 μV/K, generating a voltage of ~0.40 mV at a temperature difference of 10 K. These results indicate that the proposed CNT-based module effectively overcomes the limitations of conventional metallic materials by offering lightweight, flexible, and integrated properties. The design freedom provided by FDM 3D printing further highlights the potential of this technology for next-generation smart packaging and multifunctional sensing applications.
