타악기 Four-Mallet 마림바 'Stevens' 주법 연구 = Percussion Four-Mallet Marimba 'Stevens' Grip Study

국문 초록 (Abstract)

타악기 Four-Mallet 기법 중 마림바 연주에서 활용되는 Stevens 주법, Burton 주법, Traditional 주법을 비교 및 분석하여 교육적 가치와 실천적 활용 가능성을 탐구한 본 연구는 Four-Mallet 기법의 체계적인 배경을 기반으로 다양한 방법을 가지고 살펴보는 과정을 통해 Stevens 주법의 본질적인 특성과 고유한 장점을 중점적으로 분석하였다.
Four-Mallet 기법의 상호 보완적 성격을 제시함과 동시에 Stevens 주법을 중심으로 교육적, 실천적 가치에 주목한 본 논문은 Stevens 주법의 핵심 기술을 심도있게 분석하여 실제 음악적 상황 속에서 효과적으로 체득할 수 있도록 한 연구를 토대로 타악기 연주의 전반적인 연구에서 Four-Mallet 기법 중 Stevens 주법의 학문적 위상을 확립하는 데 의의를 가진다.
Stevens 주법이 연주 과정에서 구체적으로 적용되는 방법을 심층적으로 고찰하며 여러 마림바 연주자가 곡의 전개 과정 속에서 활용하는 다채로운 연주 기법을 검토함으로써 넓은 인터벌 유지와 롤의 균일성, 화음 전환과 말렛 독립성, 빠른 리듬에서의 명확한 음정 유지와 동시성, 인터벌 급변과 음역 이동, 롤 다이내믹과 음색 전환의 종합적인 습득력을 기존에 확립되어있는 교재 및 작품들과 비교, 분석하여 연구하였다.
이러한 분석은 단순한 연주 기술을 넘어 Stevens 주법의 핵심 기술을 실제 음악적 맥락 속에서 체득하게 하는 효과적인 교육 자료임을 보여준다. 따라서 본 논문은 마림바 교육 및 전문 연주 연습 과정에서 실질적 학습 도구로 활용될 수 있으며 타악기 마림바 교육 과정에서 효과적인 연주법 제안 및 교수법 개발에 기여할 수 있고 교육적 제시안을 통해 향후 타악기 교육과 연구에도 중요한 기반을 형성할 수 있을 것이다.

This study, which explores the educational value and practical applicability of the Stevens method, Burton method, and Traditional method among the Four-Mallet techniques used in marimba performance, compared and analyzed them. Based on the systematic background of the Four-Mallet technique, it analyzed the essential characteristics and unique advantages of the Stevens method through a process of examining them using various methods.
This paper presents the complementary nature of the Four-Mallet technique and focuses on the educational and practical value centered on the Stevens method. Based on the study that allowed for effective acquisition in actual musical situations by deeply analyzing the core techniques of the Stevens method, it is significant in establishing the academic status of the Stevens method among the Four-Mallet techniques in the overall study of percussion performance.
This study deeply examines how Stevens's method is specifically applied in performance. It compares and analyzes the comprehensive acquisition of wide interval maintenance, uniformity of rolls, chord transitions and mallet independence, clear pitch maintenance and synchronicity in fast rhythms, rapid interval changes and range shifts, roll dynamics, and timbre transitions by various marimba players throughout the development of a piece, using existing textbooks and works.
This analysis demonstrates that Stevens's method is an effective educational resource that goes beyond mere performance skills and allows for the acquisition of core techniques within a real musical context. Therefore, this paper can serve as a practical learning tool in marimba education and professional performance training, contribute to the development of effective performance techniques and teaching methods in percussion marimba education, and make a significant contribution to future percussion education and research through its educational suggestions.
