The Effects of Grit, Ego-Resilience, and Job Stress on Health Promoting Behaviors among Shift-Working nurses in General Hospitals Yun, Inja Advisor : Prof. Han Seunghee, Ph.D. Department of Nursing, Graduate School of Gwangju University This study is a descriptive research study to understand the correlation between grit, ego-resilience, job stress, and health promoting behaviors and to determine the effect on health promoting behaviors for nurses working in general hospitals. It was conducted from September 30, 2025 to October 30, 2025, with 228 shift-working nurses at general hospitals located in Gwangju Metropolitan City who understood the purpose of the study and agreed to the contents. The collected data were analyzed using the IBM SPSS Statistics 26.0 program, and the general characteristics of the subject were analyzed using real numbers, percentages, means, and standard deviations. Grit, ego-resilience, job stress, and the degree of health promoting behavior were analyzed by mean and standard deviation, and the difference in major variables according to the general characteristics of the subject was analyzed by t-test and one way ANOVA. Post-test was analyzed by Scheffé test. The results of this study are as follows. The subject's grit was 3.11±0.56 points, and the ego-resilience was 3.29±0.66 points. Job stress was 2.72±0.25 points, and health promoting behavior was 3.71±0.61 points. Grit is in the age range of 50-59 (F=4.860, p=.003) was higher than those in the 20-29 age group, 30-39 age group, and 40-49 age group. Those who answered married (t=-2.116, p=.035) were higher than those who answered unmarried, and those who had a master's degree or higher (F=7.370 p=.003) were statistically significantly higher than those in the professional history. Ego-resilienc was higher in the 20-29 age group (F=4.561, p=.004) than in the 30-39 age group, 40-49 age group, and 50-59 age group, and those who answered unmarried (t=2.249, p=.025) were statistically significantly higher in those who answered that they had a current medical history (t=2.400, p=.017) than those who answered that they had no current medical history. Health promotion behavior showed a statistically significant difference in age (F=2.972, p=.034) and no significant difference in post-mortem analysis. The correlation between grit, self-elasticity, job stress, and health promoting behavior was significantly higher. Grit and health promoting behavior (r=.578, p<.001), ego-resilience and health promoting behavior (r=.537, p<.001) were found to have a significant positive correlation, and job stress and health promoting behavior (r=-.014, p=.824) were not significantly correlated. The factors affecting health promoting behavior were grit (β=.347, p<.001), job stress (β=-.308, p<.001), and ego- resilience (β=.285, p<.001), and the explanatory power for health promoting behavior was 45.5%. Based on the above research results, the factors affecting the health promoting behavior of general hospital shift workers were grit, ego-resilience, and job stress. In order to increase the health promoting behavior of general hospital shift workers, it is necessary to develop and apply a program that can increase grit and ego-resilience and lower job stress. In addition, in order to increase grit and ego-resilience, it is necessary to develop and apply an integrated linkage program through feedback from the undergraduate and clinical department through the development and application of an intervention program and analysis of results by linking new nurses who have entered the hospital step by step from the undergraduate comparison course.
