국문 초록 (Abstract)

중년기 기독 여성의 열등감과 우울증: 기독교 관점의 질적 사례연구 본 연구 목적은 중년기 기독여성의 열등감과 우울증을 심층적으로 이해하고, 회복 과정에서 그들이 경험한 신앙의 역할은 어떠하였는지를 기독교 관점으로 고찰하는 것이 다. 또한 도출된 연구 결과를 토대로 우울증을 경험하는 중년기 여성을 효과적으로 도울 수 있는 기독교 상담적 통찰과, 교회 공동체의 목회적 돌봄을 제언하는 것이다. 본 연구는 열등감과 우울증을 경험한 40세에서 64세의 중년기 기독 여성으로, 총 9 명이 선정되었다. 2021년 4월부터 2025년 3월까지 총 4년에 걸쳐 자료를 수집하였으며, 연구 참여자들의 생생한 경험을 충분히 탐색하기 위해 연구자는 심층면담, 관찰, 시청각 자료, 연구자 메모 등 다양한 자료 원을 활용하였다. 수집된 자료는 Creswell(2013)의 ‘사 례 내 분석’과 ‘사례 간 분석’ 기법으로 분석하였으며, 이를 토대로 각 사례가 지니는 고 유한 특성과 사례 간에 나타나는 공통된 의미를 심층적으로 탐색하였다. 연구 결과, 총 120개의 의미 있는 주제와 26개의 하위 범주, 10개의 상위 범주가 도 출되었다. 도출된 10개의 상위 범주는 ‘무가치함’, ‘낮아지는 자존감’, ‘신체적으로 오는 고 통’, ‘희망의 상실’, ‘주체하지 못하는 원망과 분노’, ‘피폐해지는 일상’, ‘결코 포기하지 않으 시는 하나님’, ‘돕는 손길들’, ‘하나님께 돌아갈 결심’, ‘다시 은혜의 자리로’로 나타났다. 10 개의 상위 범주는 연구 질문이 다루는 주제에 따라 ‘열등감 경험’, ‘우울 경험’, ‘회복과정 에서 신앙의 역할’로 분류되었다. 이렇게 분류된 중년기 기독 여성들의 경험을 기독교 관 점으로 접근하여 심층적으로 탐구하고 분석하여 도출된 결과를 기반으로 기독교 상담과 교회 공동체의 돌봄에 효과적인 실천 방안을 제언하며, 연구 결과를 토대로 후속 연구의 틀을 제공하는데 그 의의가 있다. 주제어: 중년 여성, 열등감, 우울증, 기독교 상담

Inferiority Complex and Depression in Middle-Aged Christian Women: A Qualitative Case Study from a Christian Perspective purpose of this study is to gain an in-depth understanding of the depressive experiences caused by inferiority complex in middle-aged Christian women, and to explore, from a Christian perspective, the role that faith played in their recovery process. Based on the findings, this study offers Christian counseling insights and pastoral care recommendations for church communities to more effectively support middle-aged women experiencing depression.
The participants in this study were nine middle-aged Christian women between the ages of 40 and 64 who had experienced depression resulting from inferiority comolex. Data collection was conducted over a four-year period, from April 2021 to March 2025, To thoroughly explore the participants’ experiences, the researcher utilized multiple data sources, including in-depth interviews, observations, audiovisual materials, and researcher memos. The collected data were analyzed by applying Creswell's 'in-Case analysis' and 'inter-Case analysis' techniques, and through this, the uniqueness and common meaning of each case were explored in depth.
As a result of the study, a total of 120 meaningful themes, 26 subcategories, and 10 overarching categories were identified. The 10 major categories included: “worthlessness,” “Diminishing Self-Esteem,” “Physical Pain,” “'loss of hope,” “Uncontrollable Resentment and Anger,” “A Deteriorating Daily Life,” “God Who Never Gives Up,” “Helping Hands,” “A Decision to Return to God,” and “Back to the Place of Grace.” The ten overarching categories were classified according to the research questions into three themes: “Experiences of Inferiority Complex,” “Experiences of Depression,” and “The Recovery Process and the Role of Faith.” By approaching the categorized experiences of middle-aged Christian women from a Christian perspective, this study aims to explore and analyze them in depth. Based on the findings, it seeks to propose practical strategies for effective Christian counseling and pastoral care within church communities. The significance of this study lies in providing a foundational framework for future research through the results obtained.
