In this paper, a Model Predictive Control (MPC)-based Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC) system is developed on the Adaptive AUTOSAR platform and validated using the PreScan autonomous driving simulator and an Infineon AURIX automotive processor. The proposed framework is configured such that vehicle and sensor data generated in the PreScan environment are transmitted to the Adaptive AUTOSAR platform, where the ACC application computes the desired longitudinal acceleration. The calculated acceleration command is then delivered to the Infineon AURIX processor, which converts it into throttle and brake control inputs. These control inputs are fed back to the PreScan simulator to reproduce the longitudinal driving behavior of the vehicle.
Through this architecture, a closed-loop simulation environment connecting the Adaptive AUTOSAR platform, the Infineon AURIX processor, and the PreScan simulator is established. Experimental results confirm that the control algorithm operates correctly even when actual ECU computation is included in the loop. Stable data exchange between the Adaptive AUTOSAR platform and the real ECU is verified, and the control inputs computed on the ECU are correctly reflected in the PreScan simulation, resulting in consistent acceleration and deceleration behavior. These results demonstrate that the proposed framework can be effectively utilized for the development and early-stage validation of autonomous driving control functions.
The proposed simulation architecture provides an efficient environment for verifying autonomous driving control software prior to real vehicle testing and can be extended to support various Advanced Driver-Assistance Systems (ADAS) and autonomous driving functions. In particular, the integration of Adaptive AUTOSAR-based applications with a real ECU is expected to serve as a practical validation framework for control software in software-defined vehicle environments.
