씨앗의 잠재적 가능성을 시각화한 기(器) 조형연구 : 이중기 투각 기법을 중심으로 = A Study on the Ceramic Form Expressing the Latent Potential of Seeds:Focusing on the Double-walled Piercing Technique

국문 초록 (Abstract)

자연의 생성과 변화는 인간의 삶과 예술 전반에 깊은 영감을 주는 근원적 주제이다. 그중에서도 씨앗은 미시적 존재 안에 생명의 시작과 무한한 가능성을 품은 상징적 매개체로, ‘내면에 잠재된 에너지의 발현’이라는 예술적 담론으로 확장될 수 있다. 본 연구는 이러한 씨앗의 잠재성과 발아의 과정을 도자 매체를 통해 조형적으로 탐구하고, 그 내재된 생명력을 시각화하는 데 목적이 있다. 씨앗은 외형적으로 단순하지만 내부에는 성장과 변화를 향한 응축된 에너지가 자리한다. 본 연구는 이러한 구조적 이중성과 긴장을 도자 조형의 언어로 전환하기 위해, 내·외부의 관계를 중심으로 한 이중기(二重器) 구조를 실험하였다. 외부는 씨앗의 보호적 성격을 단순화한 안정된 형태로 구성하였으며, 내부는 유기적 흐름과 배아의 움직임을 반영하여 내면의 생명력을 표현하였다. 특히 투각(透刻) 기법을 활용하여 외부가 점진적으로 열리는 과정을 형상화함으로써, 씨앗이 지닌 발아의 에너지가 외부로 확장되는 순간을 시각적으로 드러냈다. 발아의 과정을 세 단계로 단순화하였는데, 첫째는 내면의 에너지가 응축된 정지 상태, 둘째는 그 에너지가 점차 활성화되는 중간 단계, 셋째는 발아의 순간으로 외부와 관계를 형성하는 단계이다. 이러한 조형적 구도는 씨앗의 내재된 생명력이 점진적으로 확장되어 외부 세계와 조우하는 생명적 서사를 표현한다. 결과적으로 본 연구는 씨앗의 존재론적 의미를 도자 조형의 언어로 재해석함으로써, 내면의 에너지가 물질과 형태를 통해 발현되는 과정을 시각화하고자 하였다. 이는 도자 매체가 지닌 물성과 공간성을 기반으로 ‘생명과 가능성’이라는 주제를 심화한 조형적 시도이며, 현대 도자 조형의 개념적 확장 가능성을 제시한다는 점에서 의의를 지닌다.

다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

The generative and transformative processes of nature have long served as a profound source of inspiration in human life and art. Among these, the seed stands as a symbolic medium that contains the origin of life and infinite potential within its microscopic form, extending into an artistic discourse on the manifestation of latent inner energy. This study aims to explore and visualize the inherent vitality and germination process of the seed through the medium of ceramics.
Although externally simple, the seed contains condensed energy directed toward growth and transformation. To translate this structural duality and inner tension into the language of ceramic form, this study experimented with the double-walled vessel structure, focusing on the relationship between interior and exterior. The outer wall embodies the seed’s protective character through a simplified and stable form, while the inner wall reflects organic flow and embryonic movement, expressing the inner vitality. In particular, by employing the piercing (透刻, tu-kak) technique to depict the gradual opening of the outer surface, the moment of the seed’s germinative energy expanding outward was visually articulated.
The germination process was simplified into three stages: the dormant state of condensed inner energy, the intermediate stage of gradual activation, and the final stage of emergence, in which the seed establishes a relationship with the external world. This compositional framework embodies the vital narrative of life expanding progressively from within to engage with the outside.
Ultimately, this study reinterprets the ontological meaning of the seed through ceramic form, seeking to visualize the manifestation of inner energy through material and structure. By utilizing the materiality and spatiality of ceramics, this work deepens the theme of “life and potential,” presenting a formative approach that suggests the conceptual expansion of contemporary ceramic art.
