삶에 축적된 무의식을 기반으로 드러나는 표상과 의미연구 : 본인의 작품을 중심으로 = A Study on Representations and Meanings Emerging from the Accumulated Unconscious in Life : Focused on My Works

I am doing work that draws images encountered in life as paintings throughmetaphorical methods based on the unconscious accumulated in a psychologicallyand economically isolated environment, and analyzes their meanings.This research began with recognizing sensations that cannot be explained bylanguage in my life and work, and those sensations fixated emotions of bitternessand melancholy, regret and longing in my inner self, and simultaneously made mecontinuously ruminate on questions about emotions with unknown causes.This reveals that it is related to the unconscious mentioned by Sigmund Freud asa concept of psychoanalysis. My unconscious viewed through the two mechanismsof repression and trauma that constitute the unconscious suggests that it wasformed through my parents' divorce and conflict within the family, and economicanxiety and severance of human relationships. Furthermore, the language structuresystem in Jacques Lacan's symbolic order becomes the basis for proving that theforms observed in my work are ultimately the result of the unconscious beingsubstituted into visual forms through metaphor, as the unconscious is revealed inthe form of metaphor and metonymy. Also, through the unconscious accidentally encountered in the process ofreproducing past photographs as paintings, I confirm that the color tone and noiseof past photographs, and blurriness operate as elements that make the unconsciousrecognized, and the research reveals that the unconscious can be substituted intovisual forms and, conversely, the unconscious can be recognized through visualforms.Accordingly, I came to know that my works are also divided into two methods inthe research process, and one is substituting the unconscious into images inpainting through the method of metaphor, and the other is the fact that I amdiscovering the unconscious that was metaphorized through scenes of films andreproducing it as paintings.The meaning of these works functions as a field where one's past and presentform dialogue in the process of analyzing, and it was conducted with the purposeof facing my inner self based on the unconscious and viewing life clearly, andfurthermore provides framework and directionality, and depth in the work.

국문 초록 (Abstract)

본인은 심리적으로 경제적으로 고립된 환경 속에서 축적된 무의식을 기반으 로, 삶에서 마주하게 되는 표상을 그림으로 그려내고, 그 의미를 분석하는 작 업을 하고 있다. 이 연구는 본인의 삶에서 그리고 작업에서 언어로 설명할 수 없는 감각을 인 지하며 시작되었고, 그 감각은 내면에 씁쓸함과 우울함, 후회와 그리움이라는 정서를 고착시켰으며, 동시에 원인 모를 감정에 대한 의문을 지속적으로 반추 하게 만들었다. 이는 프로이트(Sigmund Freud)가 정신분석학 개념으로 언급한 무의식과 연관 되어 있음을 드러낸다. 무의식을 이루는 억압과 트라우마라는 두 기제를 통해 바라본 본인의 무의식은 부모의 이혼과 가정 내 갈등, 그리고 경제적 불안과 인간관계의 단절을 통해 형성되었음을 언급한다. 나아가 라캉(Jacques Lacan) 의 상징계 속 언어구조 체계는 무의식이 은유와 환유의 형태로 드러나면서 본인의 작업에서 관찰되는 표상은 결국 무의식 속 기억과 감정이 은유를 통해 시각적 형상으로 치환된 결과임을 증명하는 근거가 된다. 또한 본인은 과거 사진을 그림으로 재현하는 과정에서 우연히 무의식 속 기 억과 감정을 마주하고, 과거 사진이 갖고 있는 색감과 노이즈, 그리고 흐릿함 같은 요소들이 무의식에 존재하는 표상을 불러낸다는 사실을 확인한다. 이를 결합하여 본인은 연구 과정에서 작업을 두 가지 방식으로 나누고 있으며, 하나는 무의식을 기반한 은유의 방식을 통해 자신의 경험을 회화의 이미지로 치환하는 것이고, 다른 하나는 영화에서 동요된 장면이나 인물을 회화로 재해석하여 의미를 만드는 것이다. 이러한 작품의 의미는 작업의 과정에서 자신의 과거와 현재가 대화를 이루는 장으로 기능하고, 드러나는 표상을 통해 본인의 내면을 마주하고 삶을 선명히 바라보고자 하는 목적으로 진행되었으며, 나아가 작업의 지속성과 틀, 그리고 방향성을 제공한다.
