주요 시험 항목으로는 토크강도 시험(Max Torque 및 Torque to turn), 이탈강도 시험(Push-out 및 Pull-out), 그리고 염수분무시험(Salt Spray Test)을 포함한 환경 신뢰성 평가를 수행하였다.

With the rapid expansion of electric vehicles (EVs), the demand for lightweight automotive structures has increased significantly.
As a result, lightweight materials such as aluminum alloys and composite materials are being increasingly adopted in vehicle body
structures. However, conventional welding-based joining methods suffer from inherent limitations, including the formation of heat-affected zones (HAZ), thermal distortion, and restricted applicability to non-conductive composite materials. Consequently, mechanical fastening technologies that do not involve thermal input have attracted growing attention as alternative joining solutions.
In this study, the mechanical characteristics of fastening-type joints for lightweight materials were systematically investigated, focusing on blind nuts and blind bolts. Aluminum alloy sheets and composite materials, including SMC and CFRP, were selected as base materials, while M6 and M8 blind fastening components were employed as fastening elements. A series of mechanical and environmental tests were conducted, including torque strength tests (maximum torque and torque to turn), push-out and pull-out strength tests, and salt spray tests for corrosion resistance evaluation. The experimental results revealed that the maximum torque was primarily influenced by the strength of the threaded fasteners, whereas the effect of the base material was relatively limited. In contrast, torque to turn and pull-out strength exhibited significant dependence on fastening force, fastener geometry, and the mechanical stiffness of the base materials. Insufficient fastening force resulted in reduced pull-out strength, while excessive fastening force increased the risk of thread damage. The influence of hole tolerance was found to be minor overall; however, strength degradation was observed in low-stiffness base materials under larger tolerance conditions.
In addition, corrosion resistance evaluation through salt spray testing indicated that Zn–Ni coated fasteners exhibited white rust and partial red rust with increasing exposure time, whereas stainless steel (STS304) fasteners demonstrated superior corrosion resistance without noticeable surface degradation. These findings suggest that both mechanical performance and environmental reliability should be considered when selecting fastening components for lightweight structural applications. The results of this study provide a comprehensive understanding
of the mechanical behavior and key influencing factors of fastening-type joints for lightweight materials, and they are expected to serve as fundamental data for the application and evaluation of mechanical fastening technologies in lightweight structural systems.
