국문 초록 (Abstract)

본 연구는 석사과정 졸업연주 프로그램 중 하나로 조지아 출신 작곡가 Otar Taktakishvili(1924-1989)의 Sonata for Flute and Piano를 중심으로 작품의 시대적 배경과 음악적 특징을 분석하고 연주적 해석을 제시하는 것을 목적으로 한다. 이 작품은 20세기 중반 조지아를 대표하는 신고전주의적 성향의 작품으로, 작곡가가 민속적 선율과 고전적 형식을 조화시킨 대표작이다.
1971년 러시아 혁명 이후 형성된 소비에트 체제 아래에서 예술은 사회주의 리얼리즘의 영향을 받으며 개인적 표현보다는 국가적 이념과 민족적 정체성을 강조하는 방향으로 발전하였다. Taktakishvili 역시 이러한 시대적 요구 속에서 대중이 이해할 수 있는 명확한 구조와 민속적 요소를 융합한 음악 세계를 구축하였다.
본 연구는 첫째, 20세기 러시아 및 조지아 음악의 정치‧사회적 배경을 고찰하고, 둘째, 작곡가의 생애와 주요 작품을 통해 음악적 방향성을 분석하였다. 셋째, Sonata for Flute and Piano의 각 악장을 형식‧선율‏‧화성적 측면에서 세부적으로 분석하고, 넷째, 연주자적 관점에서 효과적인 해석과 표현 방법을 제시하였다. 이를 통해 연주자가 작품의 구조와 표현 의도를 보다 깊이 이해하며 실천적 연주 해석에 도움을 주는 것을 목표로 하였다.

This study focuses on Sonata for Flute and Piano by Otar Taktakishvili(1924-1989), a Georgian composer of the mid-20th century, as part of the author’s graduate recital program. The purpose of this research is to analyze the historical and musical background of the work, examine its stylistic characteristics, and propose interpretive approaches from a performer’s perspective. The piece represents Taktakishvili’s synthesis of neoclassical structure and nationalistic musical idioms, combining classical forms with Georgian folk elements.
Following the Russian Revolution of 1917, the establishment of the Soviet regime profoundly influenced artistic expression through the doctrine of Socialist Realism, which emphasized collective ideals and national identity over individual creativity. Within the context, Taktakishvili developed a compositional language that reflected both clarity of form accessible to the public and the incorporation of folk-based melodic materials, demonstrating the distinctive balance between ideology and artistry in Soviet music.
This study first explores the political and social background of Russian and Georgian music in the 20th century to contextualize the composer’s environment. Second, it examines Taktakishvili’s life and representative works to trace his musical orientation. Third, it provides a detailed analysis of Sonata for Flute and Piano in terms of form, melody, harmony, and rhythm. Lastly, it presents interpretive suggestions and performance strategies that can help preformers effectively realize the composer’s musical intentions in practice.
Through this research, the study aims to deepen understanding of Taktakishvili’s Flute Sonata as a work that exemplifies the successful fusion of classical discipline and modern expressiveness, while offering practical insights for performers seekling a nuanced and historically informend interpretation.
