Pseudocercospora species are one of the important foliar pathogens on various angiosperm hosts, including members of the family Bignoniaceae. In Korea, leaf spot symptoms associated with Pseudocercospora have been increasingly observed on Campsis grandiflora, C. radicans, and the hybrid C. × tagliabuana. However, no comprehensive study has integrated detailed morphological observations with multilocus phylogenetic analyses to clarify the taxonomic identities of Pseudocercospora species infecting Campsis hosts in Korea. In this study, Pseudocercospora isolates collected from Campsis spp. across Korea using an integrative approach combining morphology and phylogeny based on four loci (ITS, actA, tef1, and rpb2). Phylogenetic analyses resolved the isolates into two distinct, well-supported clades corresponding to P. pallida and P. sordida. Isolates obtained from C. grandiflora clustered with previously characterized P. pallida strains, confirming the occurrence of this species in Korea. In contrast, isolates derived from C. radicans and C. × tagliabuana formed a separate lineage identical to P. sordida, representing the first confirmed record of P. sordida in Korea. Morphologically, both species exhibited diagnostic characteristics consistent with their original descriptions, including stromata development, conidiophore structure, and conidial features. This study provides the first integrative, morphology and multilocus-based taxonomic framework for Pseudocercospora species associated with Campsis hosts in Korea and offers fundamental data for future ecological, pathological, and taxonomic investigations.
