The purpose of this study was to compare trunk muscle activities, pelvic tilt angle and flexibility in response to different bridge exercise methods. Surface electromyography, smartphone clinometer, and modified the Fingertip to Floor(MFTF) testing methods were used. Twenty-one healthy adult women participated in the study. Surface electromyography(sEMG) was used to measure electrical activity of the transverse abdominis(TA), internal abdominal oblique(IO), and erector spinae(ES) muscles. Trunk muscle activities were analyzed through one-way ANOVA. A paired t-test and Wilcoxon signed-rank test were used to compare pre-post pelvic tilt angles and functional spinal range of motion. A one-way ANOVA and Kruskal-Wallis test were used to compare difference between groups in pelvic tilt angles and functional spinal range of motion. Statistical significance was set at α=0.05. The results showed a significant difference in trunk muscle activity between the different types of bridge exercises(p<0.01). There were also significant differences in functional spinal range of motion and pelvic tilt angles in the Abdominal drowing-in bridge exercise using BALLance® tool(BAB)(p<0.05). Therefore, this study showed Abdominal drowing-in method(ADIM) bridge exercises using BALLance® tool may be beneficial as a lumbar stabilization exercise.
