Purpose: This study aimed to develop a simulation program to enhance patient safety competency for nursing students and evaluate its impact on their patient safety knowledge, attitudes, skills, and clinical reasoning competency. Methods: This study used a randomized pretest-posttest control group design with 29 third-year nursing students (15 experimental, 14 control) from a university in City D. The experimental group participated in a 12-session simulation-based program incorporating table-top, Room of Errors, and high-fidelity simulations. In contrast, the control group attended standard lecture-based instruction. Data collection took place between August 21 and September 5, 2025. Statistical analyses were performed using the Shapiro-Wilk, Chi-square, Fisher’s exact, Mann-Whitney U, rank-biserial effect size (r), Friedman, and Wilcoxon signed-rank tests. Results: The experimental group demonstrated significant improvements over the control group in patient safety knowledge (z=2.92, U=40.00, p=.004, r=0.54), skills (z=2.35, U=51.50, p=.019, r=0.44), and clinical reasoning competency (z=2.78, U=41.50, p=.005, r=0.52). However, no statistically significant changes were observed in patient safety attitudes (z=0.63, U=91.50, p=.532, r=0.12). Conclusion: The simulation program developed in this study was effective in enhancing patient safety competency among nursing students, indicating its potential value in nursing education.
