(Meaning in Life Questionnaire; MLQ), 주관적 에이징웰 척도(Subjective Aging Well Scale; SAS), 한국판 우울척도(Center for Epidemiologic Studies Depression Scale; CES-D), 한국판 Templer 죽음불안 척도(Death Anxiety Scale; DAS)로 측정되었다.

This study conducted a latent profile analysis of death acceptance among middle-aged adults in Korea and examined group differences in meaning in life, well-aging, depression, and death anxiety. Death acceptance is not merely the absence of fear but a multidimensional construct involving approach, neutral, and escape acceptance, reflecting how individuals cognitively and emotionally engage with death. A total of 500 adults aged 40 to 65 completed self-report questionnaires, including the DAP-R, MLQ, SAS, CES-D, and DAS, along with demographic, death-related, religious, and spiritual items. Four latent profiles emerged: an integrated acceptance group, a moderate–unstable acceptance group, a low-acceptance vulnerable group, and a neutral acceptance group. The integrated acceptance group showed high meaning in life and well-aging and low death anxiety, whereas the low-acceptance vulnerable group showed the opposite pattern. The neutral acceptance group demonstrated low death anxiety but also low well-aging. The moderate–unstable acceptance group showed relatively high levels of meaning in life, depression, and death anxiety, as well as a higher prevalence of bereavement experiences. These findings suggest that death acceptance among Korean middle-aged adults manifests in diverse patterns shaped by cultural and psychosocial contexts. The implications and limitations of the study are discussed.
