This research aims to investigate the impact of positive psychological capital on career preparation behavior among college students majoring in theatre, as well as the effects of Self-esteem and academic engagement. This paper takes 500 college students majoring in theatre from the Central Academy of Theatre, Shandong Academy of Fine Arts, Sichuan Conservatory of Music, Shanghai Theatre Academy, and Jilin Academy of Fine Arts as the research subjects, and analyzes in detail the influence of positive psychological capital of college students majoring in theatre on their career preparation behavior, and at the same time discusses the mediating role played by self-respect and academic involvement in the association between positive psychological capital and career preparation behavior. At the same time, the mediating role played by self-respect and academic involvement in the association between positive psychological capital and career preparation behavior was discussed. A variety of scientific and effective analytical methods such as independent samples t-test, analysis of variance (ANOVA), factor analysis, Pearson's correlation analysis, and regression analysis were used. The results showed that all nine research hypotheses were successfully tested and the following key findings were derived. Firstly, Significant gender and grade differences were found in college students' positive psychological capital, career preparation behavior, self-esteem, and academic engagement. Secondly, Positive correlations were observed among these variables for college students majoring in theatre. Thirdly, Regression analysis results indicated that positive psychological capital has a positive influence on career preparation behavior among college students majoring in theatre, with self-esteem and academic engagement playing a positive mediating role between the two. In the field of theatre, educators should focus on guiding college students to enhance their positive psychological capital, foster self-esteem, and increase academic engagement to improve their career preparation behavior.
