The purpose of this study is to empirically examine the structural relationship among major satisfaction, learning motivation, music self-efficacy, and career maturity. Additionally, this study explores whether major satisfaction and career maturity mediate the relationship between learning motivation and music self-efficacy. To achieve this purpose, an initial theoretical model was established, and hypotheses were formulated based on a review of previous studies examining the relationships between these variables. For model construction and hypothesis testing, a questionnaire survey on the four variables was conducted from August 15 to September 15, 2024, targeting undergraduate students in their 1st to 4th years attending national, public, and private art universities in Xi’an and Beijing, China. A total of 807 collected questionnaires were analyzed to verify the effects of each pathway through examining the relationships between the variables. The results are as follows: First, college students' major satisfaction positively influenced career maturity. Second, major satisfaction also positively influenced learning motivation. Third, learning motivation had a positive effect on career maturity. Fourth, major satisfaction positively affected music self-efficacy. Fifth, music self-efficacy positively influenced career maturity. Sixth, major satisfaction impacted career maturity positively through learning motivation, showing a statistically significant mediating effect. Additionally, major satisfaction influenced career maturity positively through music self-efficacy, indicating a statistically significant mediating effect of music self-efficacy. This study is significant in that it confirms the roles of major satisfaction, learning motivation, career maturity, and music self-efficacy as influential variables, providing valuable insights on which aspects to emphasize to enhance career maturity among college students. Based on these conclusions, it can be said that higher major satisfaction leads to greater career maturity.
