조나단 에드워즈의 초월적 조명과 심층심리학적 자기표상 변형에 관한 통합 연구 = Transcendent Illumination in Jonathan Edwards and the Depth-Psychological Transformation of Self-Representation

Abstract
This study is grounded in the existential understanding of the human
person articulated in existential philosophy and examines the processes of
self-loss and transformation experienced within the human interior from
an integrative perspective that brings together depth psychology and Christian
spirituality. Taking as its point of departure the anxiety, emptiness, and
fragmented experiences of the self that characterize contemporary society, the
study explores how phenomena such as identity fragmentation, the
reinforcement of the false self, and the formalization of spirituality emerge
and undergo transformation within faith contexts.
Methodologically, this research adopts a hermeneutical approach and
conducts a comparative analysis of self-theories in depth psychology
and concepts of transformation in Christian spirituality. Through this
analysis, the study seeks to demonstrate that human transformation is
not merely a matter of psychological adjustment or a singular religious
experience, but rather a continuous and holistic process of sanctification
in which affect, desire, and relational structures are reorganized within
the transcendent illumination of the Holy Spirit.
Furthermore, in proposing a tripartite interdisciplinary integrative
model, this study argues—through rigorous hermeneutical inquiry—that
the transformation of self-representation is deepened at the point where

the empathic field of depth psychology intersects with the illuminating
work of the Holy Spirit. Such transformation extends beyond individual
interior change toward relational practice and communal sanctification.
By offering an integrative framework that connects depth psychology
and Christian spirituality, this study contributes meaningful implications
for practical application in the fields of pastoral counseling and spiritual
direction.

국문 초록 (Abstract)

본 연구는 실존철학이 제시하는 실존적 인간 이해를 이론적 기반으로 삼 아, 인간 내면에서 경험되는 자기 상실과 변형의 과정을 심층심리학과 기 독교 영성학의 통합적 관점에서 고찰한다. 현대 사회에서 두드러지게 나타 나는 불안, 공허, 그리고 분열된 자기 경험을 출발점으로 하여, 신앙의 현 장에서 드러나는 정체성의 분열, 거짓 자기의 강화, 형식화된 영성의 현상 이 어떠한 구조 속에서 형성되고 변화되는지를 탐구한다. 연구 방법으로는 해석학적 접근을 사용하며, 심층심리학의 자기 이론과 기독교 영성학의 변형 개념을 비교, 분석한다. 이를 통해 인간의 변형이 단 순한 심리적 조정이나 일회적 종교 체험에 그치는 것이 아니라, 성령의 초 월적인 조명 안에서 정동과 욕망, 그리고 관계 구조가 재편성되는 지속적 이고 전인적인 성화의 과정임을 밝히고자 한다. 나아가 본 연구는 삼자적 학제 간 통합 모델을 제시하고자, 엄밀한 해석 학적 탐구를 통해 인간의 자기 표상 변형이 심층심리학적 공감의 장과 성 령의 조명이 만나는 지점에서 심화 됨을 논증한다. 이러한 변형은 개인의 내면적 변화에 머무르지 않고, 관계적 실천과 공동체적 성화로 확장될 수 있음을 확인한다. 본 연구는 심층심리학과 기독교 영성을 연결하는 통합적 이해를 제시함으로써, 목회상담과 영성 지도 현장에서의 실제적 적용 가능 성을 제공한다는 점에서 의의를 지닌다. 주제어: 초월적 조명, 자기 표상 변형, 심층심리학, 공감의 장, 성화.
