This study approaches the issues arising from involuntary movement in contemporary society from an artistic perspective. Today, we are often compelled to move without even realizing it ourselves. This results in the overcrowding of certain areas and leads to tension, division, and the breakdown of relationships. Through my own experiences of having to repeatedly relocate, I came to understand that movement is not merely a spatial transition but a transformation accompanied by sensory and relational conditions. In this process, I began to perceive that place, time, and relationships are connected in loose and subtle ways. Rather than focusing on movement as the act of swiftly reaching a destination from a point of departure, I turned my attention to the time and experience accumulated along the way. I came to believe that this perspective on movement might offer a clue for loosening the tensions embedded in today’s society. These reflections extend into my sculptural practice, becoming materialized through a sensory language.

My work does not seek fixed forms but responds sensitively and changes according to its context. Using clay as a fluid medium, I visualize various forms of contact through sculptural conditions such as stacking, balancing, and adjusting firing temperatures. The moments of contact —whether leaning, touching, or simply coexisting— occur not in rigid unions but in loose states that allow room for transformation. The gaps between pieces leave space for the potential to disassemble, situated between the extremes of total union and complete disconnection.

This is a sculptural proposition against today’s tendency toward rapid categorization and rigid boundaries. It is an attempt to imagine the possibility of fluid coexistence. By revealing loosely connected and non-fixed relationships between individual elements, my work implies that in an era where movement is a given, we as humans might also shape our relationships in flexible ways.
