'여성애자 여성' 정체성에 대한 내러티브 연구 = Narrative Study on the Identity of 'Gynosexual Women'

국문 초록 (Abstract)

이 연구는 여성애자 여성들의 정체성 구성과 연애 실천을 중심으로, 이들의 삶에 작동하는 연애 규범과 커뮤니티 내부의 문화적 장치를 비판적으로 고찰하였다. 이를 위하여 심층면접으로 연구 참여자들의 경험을 듣고, 이를 내러티브 분석하여 여성애자 여성들의 성적 실천이 단순한 정체성 선택의 결과가 아닌, 복잡하고 유동적인 과정 중에 있음을 논의한다. 또한 2015년 이후의 온라인 페미니즘, 특히 래디컬 페미니즘·정치적 레즈비어니즘·터프 페미니즘이 혼재된 담론이 이들의 정체성 인식과 갈등에 일정한 영향을 미치고 있음을 확인하였다. 이때 정치적 레즈비어니즘에 대한 수용과 거부는 트랜스포비아적 요소에 대한 문제의식과 윤리적 긴장 속에서 다양하게 나타났다. 페미니즘 리부트 이후의 온라인 페미니즘이 성소수자의 연애 규범에 대한 근본적인 고민을 할 수 있는 바탕을 만들어 주지 못 한 것이 드러나기도 하였다.
특히 팸/부치 이분법이 여성애자 여성 커뮤니티 내에서 암묵적인 관문으로 기능하고 있으며, 이로 인해 당사자들이 겪는 저항, 수용, 시행착오, 불안정한 합격 등의 다양한 경험 유형을 탐색하였다. 연구 참여자들은 자신들의 연애 서사에서 커밍아웃 전략을 형성하고, 외부의 평가에 직면하며, 이분법적 명명에 내적으로 균열을 일으키는 다양한 실천을 보여주었다.
본 연구는 이러한 규범에 대한 인식과 저항, 그리고 그로부터의 거리두기를 실천하는 여성애자 여성들의 목소리를 통해, 이들의 성적 실천이 결코 일률적이거나 고정된 것이 아님을 밝히고자 하였다.

다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

This study critically examines the romantic norms and cultural mechanisms that operate within the lives of gynosexual women, focusing on their processes of identity formation and romantic practice. Through in-depth interviews and narrative analysis, the research discusses that sexual practice among gynosexual women is not the result of a fixed identity choice, but rather a complex and fluid process. The study also investigates how post-2015 online feminism—particularly the intertwined discourses of radical feminism, political lesbianism, and TERF(trans-exclusionary radical feminist) feminism—has influenced participants' identity perceptions and internal conflicts. The findings also suggest that the Feminism Reboot did not provide an adequate foundation for critically rethinking romantic norms among sexual minorities.
The femme/butch binary, functioning as a tacit gateway in lesbian communities, was explored as a cultural framework through which participants expressed various experiences of resistance, acceptance, trial and error, and unstable acceptance. Participants developed personal coming-out strategies, responded to external evaluations, and enacted practices that disrupted binary identity designations.
By highlighting these voices, the study demonstrates that sexual practice among gynosexual women cannot be explained through singular or fixed narratives. Instead, their practices of distancing from normative binaries and navigating ethical tensions reveal the multifaceted and context-dependent nature of their identity construction and lived experiences.
