This study was conducted to analyze the impact of REDD+ project implemented in Tumring, Kampong Thom province, Cambodia, on sustainable forest management and the improvement of the living environment and income level of local residents and to evaluate the possibility of success as a forest management model. Quantitative and qualitative data were collected and analyzed through surveys and in-depth interviews with 120 households headed locally. As a result of the study, after the REDD+ project, the awareness and participation of local residents in forest protection were significantly improved, and the number of common village forests increased from an average of 339 before implementation to 578.4 thereafter. As the result of analysis, REDD+ participation activities showed that resident’s agricultural activities capacities were strengthened, understanding of biodiversity conservation, and community cooperation activities were improved, and local income increased by 11% on average. Through this study, it was found that the implementation of REDD+ project was multidimensional effects of improving the living standards of local residents, raising awareness of climate change, preserving forest resources and functioning as an integrated model.
