Canola seed의 營養的 價値를 糾明하기 위해 緬羊에게 給與하여 飼料攝取量, 營養素 利用性 및 消化率 等을 調査하기 위하여 濃厚飼料에 大豆粕과 canola seed를 첨가하여 比較 試驗하였고 (試驗Ⅰ) 大豆粕과 菜種粕을 canola seeds를 분쇄한 것과 분쇄하지 않은것을 比較試驗 (試驗Ⅱl) 하여 얻은 結果는 다음과 같다.
1. 良質粗館料를 給與할 경우 canola seed를 濃厚飼料에 7 %水準 으로 첨가시 飼料攝取量이 크게 增加되었고 低質粗飼料를 給與時에는 canola seed를 분쇄하거나 분쇄하지 않고 그대로 濃厚飼料에 10%水準으로 첨가시에 大豆粕이나 菜種粕 첨가시에 비해 상당히 높았으며 특히 菜種粕 첨가구가 월등히 낮았다.
2. 各種 營養素 攝取量에 있어서는 canola seeds 첨가구가 大豆粕과 菜種粕 첨가구에 비해 높은 傾向을 보여 주었는데 有意性은 없었으나 粗脂肪에서 有意性이 나타났다. (P<0.01)
3. 乾物消化率과 各種 營養素의 消化率은 alfalfa hay cube 給與時나 볏짚을 粗飼料로 한 試驗 공히 canola 첨가수준이나 加工方法을 달리 하더라도 大臺粕이나 菜種粕 첨가구와 差異가 없었다.
4. 窒素蓄積率에 있어서는 良質粗飼料 給與時 canola seeds 5%와 7% 첨가구가 各各 20%, 47%가 增加되었고, 低質粗飼料給與時 大豆粕 給與區에 비해 採種粕, whole canola seeds 및 ground canola seeds 첨가구가 各各 20, 24, 29 %가 增加되었다.
以上의 結果에서 大豆粕 대신 濃厚飼料에 canola seeds를 첨가할 때 飼料攝取量, 消化率 및 窒素蓄擴率에 있어서 改善 내지는 大豆粕과 대등한 價値를 가지고 있어 飼料配合時 蛋白質 給源으로서 利用할만한 價値가 충분히 있는 것으로 思料된다.

Two trials were conducted to investigate the effect of feeding canola seeds on the feed intake and nutrient utilization in sheep.
Three ruminaIly fistulated sheep averaging 50kg body weight were assigned to a 3×3 Latin Square arrangement at the levels of canola seeds 0, 5 and 7% in the concentrates.
The other experiment was carried out with four sheep averaging 60kg body weight to compare the feeding value of soybean meal, rapeseed meal, whole canola seeds and ground canola seeds in ration.
The results are as follows;
1. When feeding high quality hay cubes, the dry matter intakes of the diet supplemented with 75 of canola seeds in the concentrate was highly increased and in case of low quality rice straw, the dry matter intakes of the diet supplemented with either whole or ground canoln seeds were improved compared to the soybean meal and rapeseed meal.
2. There were tendency to increase the intakes of variance nutrient composition in the diet supplemented with canola seeds. Expecially the intakes of crude fat was significantly high (p<0.01).
3. The digestibiLities of the dry matter and nest nutrient composition of the diet supplemented with canola seeds were net difference from those with soybean meal or rapeseed meal. And digestibilities crude fiber of rapeseed meal was significantly high (p<0.05).
4. N retentions were increased by 20, 47% respectively by adding 5% and 7% of canola seed in the ration. When fed low quality roughage, N retentions were increased by 20, 24, 29% respectively by adding rapeseed meal, whole canola seeds and ground canola seeds.
Conclusively, canola seeds can be a good protein source substituting for soybean meal in terms of feed intake, nutrient digestibility and N retention of the ruminants.
