The Effect of Chinese Aesthetic Medical Consumers' Consumption Propensity on Their Product Selection Attributes and Reuse Intention
: Focusing on Implications for Entry Strategies into China
With a view to empirically verifying the effect of consumption propensity on product selection attributes and reuse intentions with consumers who have undergone the treatment for (purchase of) aesthetic medical products in the Chinese aesthetic medical market, this study prepared a theoretical basis based on previous studies, checked the suitability of the questionnaire, and established a research model and research hypotheses to verify the foregoing effect.
The data necessary for empirical analysis were verified through exploratory factor analysis, confirmatory factor analysis, reliability analysis, validity analysis, correlations between constructs, and a co-variate structural model using SPSS 29 and AMOS 26. As a result of the empirical analysis, the hypotheses on the effect of Chinese aesthetic medical consumers' consumption propensity on their product selection attributes and reuse intention were partially adopted from an overall perspective.
First, the hypothesis that the consumption propensity of Chinese aesthetic medical consumers will have a significant positive (+) effect on product selection attributes was completely adopted from an overall perspective. Fashion seeking, ostentation seeking, economy seeking, and pleasure seeking consumption propensities were found to have significant positive (+) effects on product selection attributes. In particular, among the product selection attributes, brand image was found to be the most important, followed by quality, price, and country image, in order of precedence.
Second, the hypothesis that product selection attributes of Chinese aesthetic medical consumers will have a significant positive (+) effect on reuse intentions was partially accepted. Brand image, quality, and price were found to have significant positive (+) effects on reuse intentions. National image was found to have no significant effect, and thus was rejected.
Third, the hypothesis that the consumption propensity of Chinese aesthetic medical consumers will have a significant positive (+) effect on their reuse intention was partially accepted, and pleasure seeking and economy seeking propensities were found to have significant positive (+) effects on reuse intentions.
Fourth, the hypothesis that product selection attributes will play a mediating role between consumption propensity and reuse intention was partially accepted, and brand image and quality were found to have significant positive mediating effects.
Lastly, depending on gender differences, consumption propensity was found to have a significant moderating effect on the relationship between product selection attributes and reuse intentions.
Based on the analysis results as such, implications necessary for establishing marketing strategies regarding consumers' consumption propensities and the components of product selection attributes were presented to companies and hands-on workers entering the Chinese aesthetic medical market.
