Purpose: Korean Auditory, Language, and Cognitive Rehabilitation for Infants (KARI) is a rehabilitation program that considers the linguistic and cultural characteristics for Korean infants and toddlers developed for 10 years. This study aims to introduce KARI, which promotes the development of infants with caregivers cooperation, through its website and to download materials necessary for rehabilitation. A Korean-style infant hearing language cognitive rehabilitation website was developed and it's use was confirmed so that Korean infants and toddlers can receive proper hearing rehabilitation in their daily lives early while reducing unnecessary visits to the center.
Method: The homepage development process consisted of design, planning, implementation, and inspection. In the design stage, reference sites for defining the purpose of homepage development and determining the concept suitable for the purpose were investigated and analyzed. In the planning stage, a site map representing the composition of the home page, a wireframe representing the composition of the page, and a design to conceive a specific design concept and content arrangement were created. In the implementation stage, the actual home page was implemented and the domains were connected based on the design samples. In the last inspection stage, the implemented home page was revised and supplemented. And the usability evaluation paper was composed of a total of 23 questions according to the evaluator's general information, educational effectiveness, reliability, accessibility, aesthetics, and free response questions. The evaluation was conducted by three experts with clinical experience.
Results: The KARI homepage is composed of two pages. The first is the 'KARI Introduction' page explaining KARI and the 'Archive' page where you can download rehabilitation-related materials. The 'KARI Introduction' page is composed of articles introducing KARI, characteristics of KARI, progress order, data composition, and evaluation items. The 'Archive' page is composed of expert data, pre-session check list, and parenting data categories. The 'Professional Data' includes evaluation data to be used to evaluate the level of infant development, the 'Pre-session Checklist' includes pre-session check items and forms such as expert and caregiver's notification, and the 'Caregiver Data' includes rehabilitation training methods that caregivers can provide to infants and toddlers.
Conclusion: The average of the usability evaluation result was 4.45 points out of 5.00, which was high. As a result of comparing the answers to short answer questions and domestic and foreign rehabilitation tools, KARI was proved to be the early hearing rehabilitation tool suitable for Korean infants and toddlers. Several things to improve were suggested. First, it is necessary to increase the educational effectiveness by presenting examples of the use of data in a document or video and adding a brief explanation of the data in the library. Second, it was confirmed that there is a need to increase accessibility to the desired data by attaching the keyword in the development area to the data for caregivers. Third, it is necessary to improve the aesthetics by unifying the color, font, and file format of the materials in the library. In addition, according to the proposed content, the addition of a post that can acquire communication functions and other information through comments is considered. In addition, if the website is divided into professional and caregivers to increase usability, and if the application linked to the homepage is developed to implement parental education, evaluation system, and infant education functions and communication functions are implemented, this will be further improved, and communication between caregivers and experts will be easier so that richer feedback can be received.
