정경 마태복음과 콥트어 마태복음 (Codex Schøyen)의 본문 비교 연구 : ‘유대-기독교 복음서’를 향하여 = A Comparative Study of the Texts of the Canonical Matthew and the Coptic Matthew :Toward the ‘Jewish-Christian Gospel’

국문 초록 (Abstract)

본 연구의 목적은 공관복음서 문제 해결에 새로운 실마리를 제안하고자 함이다. 세 복음서의 유사점과 차이점을 해결하기 위한 많은 학자들의 다양한 논의가 있는 가운데, 현대까지 이어진 가장 큰 두 축은 마가복음 우선설과 마태복음 우선설이다.
그리고 마가복음 우선설에 반대하는 학자들은 마가복음의 전체 자료 중 일부가 나머지 공관복음서에서 발견되지 않는다고 맞선다. 마가복음의 677개 구절 중 470개만이 마태복음과 누가복음에, 159개는 마태복음에만, 20개는 누가복음에 나타난다. 마가복음의 207개의 구절은 나머지 두 복음서에 나타나지 않는다. 누가복음은 마가복음 6:45-8:26을 아예 통째로 건너뛰었다. 이러한 차이점에 대해 마가복음 우선설을 옹호하는 학자들은 답변해야 한다.
이에 연구자는 공관복음서 문제와 “Q”(Quelle)자료설의 문제점을 통해 공관복음서 문제를 해결하기 위해 학자들의 견해 중 마태복음 우선설의 시작이 된 그리스바흐가설과 마가복음 우선설의 스트리터의 주장을 살펴보겠다. 그리고 “Q”자료설의 기원과 정착, 초기 기독교 문헌에서 “Q”자료의 증거나 증언이 있는지를 살펴본다. 초기 기독교 문헌을 조사한 결과 “Q”자료의 흔적은 찾아볼 수 없었다.
이어서, ‘유대-기독교 복음서’ 연구를 통해 공관복음서 문제를 해결해 보려 했던 여러 학자들의 견해를 요약 정리한다. 학자들은 크게 마가복음 우선설과 마태복음 우선설을 지지하면서도 다양한 공관복음서 문제 해결 방법을 제시하고 있음을 알 수 있었다.
다음으로 ‘유대-기독교 복음서’ 연구를 통해 “히브리인의 복음서” 연구가 성장하면서 낙관론이 우세했던 시기와 암흑기 및 20세기에 이르러 “히브리인의 복음서” 연구의 새로운 돌파구가 열리게 된 시점을 기술한다. 그리고 “히브리인의 복음서”의 신학적 특성을 살펴본다. “히브리인의 복음서”는 정경 마태복음을 기준으로 첨삭 및 환언 등이 있었다.
계속해서 본 연구의 주된 목표인, 한스 마틴 쉥케(Hans-Martin Schenke)가 편집한 콥트어 마태복음인 코덱스 스쾨옌(Codex Schøyen)과 정경 마태복음을 비교 분석한다. 콥트어 마태복음과 정경 마태복음을 비교해 본 결과, “히브리인의 복음서”와 같이 첨삭과 환언 등의 차이가 있었다. 이러한 차이점을 통해 볼 때 코덱스 스쾨옌의 신학적 특성으로는 예수 이름 회피, 짧은 읽기, 마태복음의 특징적 구절 생략, 아람어적 표현, 추가 및 해설, 누가복음 및 요한복음과의 연관성으로 요약 정리하였다.
쉥케는 코덱스 스쾨옌이 정경 마태복음 이전의 마태복음 버전을 콥트어로 번역한 것이라고 단언하면서, 콥트어 마태복음 연구를 통해 두 자료설을 지지할 수 없게 될 것이라 한다.
본 연구의 결과도 “히브리인의 복음서”의 신학적 특성과 코덱스 스쾨옌의 신학적 특성에서 드러난 유사점을 볼 때, 정경 마태복음이 “히브리인의 복음서”의 영향을 받은 것으로 생각된다.
