민감한 사람으로 살아내는 경험에 대한 현상학적 질적 연구 : 감각처리 민감성을 중심으로 = A phenomenological qualitative study on the experience of living as a highly sensitive person: Focusing on sensory processing sensitivity

다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

Sensory processing sensitivity as a temperament has been popular with the public since 1997, but its construct concept for academic research is not clear. Highly sensitive people (hereafter HSPs), that is, people with high sensory processing sensitivity, are often not understood even by counselors or therapists. Although their sensitivity is well explained by Jung's introversion, it is not clear which characteristics of HSP are similar to introversion and why. Therefore, the purpose of this study was to investigate the nature and structure of the experiential phenomenon that living as a HSP. For this, data were collected by conducting one-on-one in-depth interviews and focus group interviews with 15 adult HSPs. The collected research data were analyzed according to van Manen's hermeneutic phenomenological approach. And as a result of data analysis, the experience of living as a HSP was found to be 138 central meanings, 30 revealed themes, and 12 essential themes. The experience of living as a HSP derived in this way was rearranged into four fundamental existentials of lived body, lived space, lived time, and lived human relation, that van Manen suggested the essential structure. Based on this, it was revealed that the experience of living as HSP is in various states of “like water flowing from the top of the mountain to the sea,” the feeling of HSPs being frequently captivated, and the survival methods they discovered on themselves. Based on this, the relationship between HSP and Jung's introversion, the relationship between HSP and the Da-sein, the relationship between living the question of existence sensitively and transpersonal psychology, the disease of craving for the present-existence sensitively, and healing this strange pain discussed. Finally, the implications, limitations, and suggestions of this study were presented.
