시맨틱 아카이브를 통한 국내 방송뉴스 기록물 이용 활성화 방안 연구

As the amount of records increases, the importance of efficiently managing it and making it easy for users to search and use is increasing. In order to do so, it is necessary to collect and provide the records information desired by the user.
In the case of broadcasting records, the amount is increasing geometrically, and the number of providers is also increasing. In such an environment, it becomes difficult for the user to easily and quickly retrieve and use the information required by the user. In particular, in the case of broadcasting news, even though it is valuable information for reuse, there is little recognition of broadcasting news records in Korea, and its management and user service are not performed properly.
In this study, I applied the concept of ‘Semantic web’ to broadcasting news records, proposed an interface for searching and using records through ‘broadcasting news semantic archive’, and devised measures to activate the use of broadcasting news records.
The study method is to analyze the theory of semantics called ‘Saussure and Peirce’ as conceptual frameworks for understanding the structure of semantic archive, and analyze the current state of domestic broadcasting news archives and the use of semantic web in foreign countries. An ontology of broadcasting news semantic archives is designed, an interface for retrieving and utilizing records is proposed based on the ontology, and then a plan for activating the utilization of broadcasting news records is presented.
As a result, in order to activate the use of broadcasting news records, three strategies were presented: opening broadcast archives and cooperation between broadcast stations; standardization of broadcasting news metadata and ontology development; user participation and broadcasting news curation.
I hope this study will serve as the basis for the active use of broadcasting news records, and I hope that study on the use of semantic archives will be conducted in various fields such as documentaries, entertainment, and dramas.

국문 초록 (Abstract)

기록의 양이 증가함에 따라 이를 효율적으로 관리하여 이용자가 쉽고 편리하게 검색 및 이용할 수 있도록 하는 것의 중요성은 커지고 있다. 이를 위해서는 이용자가 원하는 기록정보를 집적시켜 제공할 필요가 있다.
방송기록물의 경우에도 그 양이 기하급수적으로 증가하고 있으며 제공 기관 역시 다양해지고 있다. 이러한 환경에서, 이용자는 자신이 필요로 하는 정보를 쉽고 빠르게 검색하고 이용하는 데 어려움을 겪을 수 있다. 특히 방송뉴스의 경우 재사용(reuse)을 위한 정보로서의 가치를 지니고 있음에도, 국내에서는 방송뉴스 기록물을 기록으로 여기는 인식이 낮아 그 관리와 이용자 서비스가 제대로 이루어지지 않고 있다.
이에 본 연구에서는 방송뉴스 기록물에 ‘시맨틱 웹’의 개념을 적용하여 ‘방송뉴스 시맨틱 아카이브’를 통한 기록물 검색 및 이용 인터페이스를 제안한 뒤, 방송뉴스 기록물 이용의 활성화 방안을 고안하고자 하였다.
이를 위한 연구 방법으로는, 시맨틱 아카이브에서의 구조를 이해하기 위한 개념적 틀로써 소쉬르와 퍼스라는 기호학자의 이론을 분석하였고, 국내 방송뉴스 기록물 관리 기관의 현황과 해외 시맨틱 웹 활용사례 분석을 통해 방송뉴스 기록물 활용을 위한 시맨틱 아카이브의 필요성을 정리하였다. 그리고 방송뉴스 시맨틱 아카이브의 온톨로지를 설계한 뒤 이를 바탕으로 기록물 검색 및 활용의 인터페이스를 제안하였고, 이후 방송뉴스 기록물의 이용 활성화 방안을 제시하였다.
그 결과, 방송뉴스 기록물 이용 활성화를 위해서 방송 아카이브의 개방 및 방송사 간 협력, 방송뉴스 메타데이터 표준화 및 온톨로지 개발, 이용자 참여 및 방송뉴스 큐레이션의 세 가지 방안을 제시하였다.
본 연구가 방송뉴스 기록물의 활발한 이용의 토대가 될 수 있길 바라며, 추후 다큐멘터리, 예능, 드라마 등 다양한 분야에서의 시맨틱 아카이브 활용 연구가 진행되어 국내 방송기록물의 연계뿐 아니라 전 세계적으로 방송기록물이 연계되는 환경이 구축되기를 기대해본다.
